At the conclusion of the Southeastern Conference’s regular season each year is the annual SEC Baseball Tournament held at Regions Park in Hoover, Alabama. This double elimination tournament crowns a champion who then represents the SEC in the NCAA Baseball Tournament with an automatic/guaranteed bid. The SEC Tournament is made up of 8 SEC schools, many of which also make the NCAA Baseball Tournament due to the strength of the SEC in the world of college baseball. Hostorically, due to the strength of the SEC as a whole, teams that have not made the SEC Tournament have also been selected for the NCAA Baseball Tournament.
The SEC Baseball Tournament has been held every year since 1977 when Ole Miss won the inaugural SEC Tournament. LSU and Alabama have the most SEC Baseball Tournament titles have each won 7 titles coming into the 2009 season.
2009 SEC Baseball Tournament Schedule
The 2009 SEC Baseball Tournament will be held May 20-24 at Regions Park in Hoover, Alabama with all 8 teams participating matched up on May 20, 2009. It is then a double-elimination style bracket with the 2009 SEC Baseball Championship on Sunday, May 24, 2009 @ 3 pm ET.
