I absolutely hate spiders, but that one is so big, at least I would see it before it could get to me...
Really the bigger the spider the more painful and less dangerous the bite. Aside from the Australian trap door spider which is one of the most poisonous in the world.
It's the smaller one's you gotta worry about. Black widows can get into anything.

Black widows are in Michigan during the summer...not sure where they go during the winter...but they usually stay in plain sight when we do see 'em. Usually around fallen trees or wood piles.
I'm just glad it gets too cold up here for the brown recluse to stick around.

Back home I usually find them under lawn chairs and in that nook right under the bottom of the door step.

I know. Oever here in GA, we have a hybrid of the Black Widow, she is actually brown, Just as dangerous and the recluse. I get bit often by the little spiders, I can tell b/c of the soreness of the bite.
I even had to suck a huge oak truck spider into a cannister vacuum one time, it was horrible.

There are more than a few sub-species of black widow. As long as the red hour glass is there then it's a widow.

Yep, we have an almost identical species called the Red-back spider. Back in the day people used to get bitten using an outdoor dunny, before widespread plumbing came in, especially in rural areas. Used to be that you'd have to check out the toilet seat before sitting down, just in case!
