According to Warchant, FSU self-reported some secondary violations:

" It would have helped FSU had the hiring become official sooner.

FSU will be self-reporting a minor recruiting violation to the ACC involving phone calls between prospects and McHale. NCAA rules prohibit someone who is not an authorized institutional employee - a coach - to contact prospects as if he were.

"From what I understand, he verbally accepted the job but had not signed the official paperwork," FSU compliance coordinator Brian Battle said. "It's kind of a gray area. But we talked to our league office and from our end it was a (secondary) violation. We will be writing it up."

They may not be able to sign players who were involved in the violations...I think we signed Codrington because of it.
