Senior safety Ryan Hamilton, one of Vanderbilt's best defensive players and one of its best leaders, is out for the rest of the season after suffering a torn pectoral muscle against LSU last Saturday.
Hamilton was a key cog in the Commodores' defense. Losing him is a big blow to the Commodores' secondary, which already included a couple of first-time starters this season.
Vanderbilt coach Bobby Johnson said Hamilton played a quarter and a half against the Tigers with the muscle torn off his humerus bone.
"So that tells you how tough he is," Johnson said.
The Commodores also lost starting offensive tackle James Williams for the season after he dislocated his ankle against LSU.
Vanderbilt's depth has certainly improved under Johnson. We're going to find out how much it's improved over these next few weeks. Show class, have pride and display character. If you do, winning takes care of itself.  |
