First and foremost, congrats to the Gators! You guys made the plays when it counted most, we didn't! That's the difference between winners and losers. Not to mention having a GOD like Tebow doesn't hurt!
But let me spread some love on my Vols. Yes I know it's still a loss and we're now 1-2, but I haven't been this excited about my program in many, many years. And those of you who have been here long enough KNOW that I wasn't even a believer in this team or this program a couple of years ago when we WON the East. I'm still waiting to see even a SHRED of evidence that Kiffin was a bad hire that so many of you haters claim he is. Here me now and believe me later (thanks Hans! ).... TENNESSEE'S ON THE ROAD BACK whether you choose to believe it or not! The Vols did EVERYTHING they wanted today on the road, in the Swamp, against the defending National Champs, and without a QB. The Gator coaching staff got worked over by the Vols' coaching staff today. When was the last time that happened??
I'll be the first to say (and always have been) that the only thing that matters is the scoreboard, but Kiff and the Vols served notice today that the groundwork is finally being laid to getting this program back where it belongs... back on top. Make sure and get your shots in this year, boys because it's your last chance for quite a while!
GO VOLS!!
Phyllis-But it is a big deal. You almost killed Stanley. Dwight-Yeah right! I filled him full of butter and sugar for 50 years and forced him not to exercise!

This is the Vol forum, so I won't really do any trash talking; but this I didn't see in the game that was on at my house. At my house, Monte Kiffin had a great day; but Lane had a pretty bad one, and didn't really do ANYTHING they wanted, much less EVERYTHING.
Still a very good game, and one to give Vols fans hope... you just can't say your team did everything they wanted when they 1. Lost and 2. Only had about 200 yards of total offense.

Perspective, my friend.... perspective!! Going in, the keys to the game were this:
Shorten the game by running the ball and controlling the clock - check!
Limit mistakes - check!
Take away the big play - check!
Match the Gators' physicality - check!
Run the ball - check!
So, we still wound up on the wrong side of the score, but the Vols' gameplan went as well as could be expected! A one-dimensional offense and 30 point underdog went into the Swamp against the #1 team in the land and accomplished what they set out to do in virtually every facet of the game. Sure we lost the game, but it wasn't a total loss in my mind! Do you not think this young team's going to build on their performance today?

Absolutely, and I've said so in virtually every thread that addresses the game. I even told fans of other teams they better not take UT lightly, and if the Vols got any consistency at the QB position this season, they'd make some opposing fans very unhappy before it's all said and done.
I just didn't see the same things, as far as limiting mistakes, the physicality of the teams, and success running the ball. Those are the 3 things that made the difference in the score, imo. Mistake-wise, UT had 2 turnovers; but it's better than the 3 from last year... plus we had 2 too. Physically, we were just too deep, and didn't seem to gas as early... we won the battle in the trenches, although your DL was very stout. I didn't think the rushing game was very successful at all. It was definitely better than the passing game, and there were some big plays; but, if UT averaged 3.8 yards per carry for the whole season, they'd finish 6th in rushing in the SEC, going by last year's numbers. Y'all were averaging 5.63 coming into the game.
But, all in all, yes, I'd say you guys have plenty to look forward to. In fact, if there was a legitimate passing threat, UT's rushing numbers would look considerably better. You have the hosses to run; but defenses won't hesitate to leave their DB's out there 1 on 1, and load the box right now... we really should have done more of that earlier.

Wow vol pride is at a all time low . In my mind all your checks = how to not get beat bad and lose. Don't get me wrong glad you can spin it for the best, but if we Gators play like we did today we will not be number one for long. Unlike you I want run and pass in my offense!!!!!!!!!

Hello? Hey douche did you realize we fired our coach last year because we sucked so bad. Did you know that two coaching staffs have looked at our team and decided Jonathan Crompton is our best option at QB? With those two facts in mind of course our pride is at an all time low. Did you see we lost to UCLA twice in two years? Wake up, of course were are god damn glad the way we played today. I am sure you were happy when things turned around after Zook. There are such things as moral victories when hitting the lows we have reached.
Kiffin is a douchebag. He played not to get embarrased when he could have won. It was frickin disgusting. He should have his ass kicked. Since when are Vol fans happy with moral victories?

I think Tennessee played a good game. But if the Vols did everything they wanted to in the Swamp, worked over Florida's coaching staff, and still lost the game.......then that speaks volumes about where Tennessee is compared to where Forida is.
Besides, moral victories are for the Big 11 and Notre Dame......I'm glad you're happy though.

you're just mad because Arky could replace their D with 11 traffic barrels and nobody would know the difference.
once again, you do what you have actually accused others of and thats interrupt a thread with nothing that has anything to do with anything
you sound like a retarded waterheaded 5 yr old
and you have done what you always do: personally insult me. you're not supposed to do that.
this is the Vols forum. if someone comes in here saying our coach is a douchebag and attacking our team, i am going to defend UT. perfectly legit in my mind.
