This is not Rocky Top, but talk UT Sports here anyway.
I still have hope that the Cats can end that confounded streak the Vols have against us....so, surely you Vol faithful can lift your heads up and carry on. Although, I can understand your pain, you have a proud tradition that has been struggling the last few years in mediocrity......I liken it to UK basketball suffering the BCG debacle and the last couple of years of Tubbyball (after he lost interest in UK). It's just a matter of time until UT gets back to East supremacy (or, at least seriously in the discussion). Heck, it may still happen this year if you can get some steady QB play.
We're in good hands. This is going to be a 6 or 7 win team this year no matter what. I knew that coming into it so I'm not discouraged at all. Stephens will be a senior starter next year and a likely improvement over Crompton. We will have a young line, but some really talented players on offense at every position but I wouldn't expect any miracles. You don't go overnight from where Fulmer had us and turn into a world-beater. It will take time, but the talent will be there. The coaches are the best in the business and never quit.

Hey majorspur, take the trash talk to the appropriate forum. You're just spouting nonsense without having the slightest idea what you're talking about anyway. Do some research on our coaches and then get back to me.

oH OK MY BAD I thought your boy was terrible at Oakland! I might be wrong! All I know is he got that big mouth that will be shut this Saturday!! Go Gators Mr Kiffin!!! Rocky top will crumble!!
When life get's tough and things get tragic,
pack a BOWL it's FREAKING MAGIC!
You guys played horrible the other day but I think alot of that was your coaches fault. Why not try and throw the ball on 3rd and goal? Maybe 4th and goal? I know your QB isn't great but you should atleast try and throw it.
I would be disappointed if I were you guys but you can only go up from here. You guys have the first real defense that the barn will face. If you guys can limit turnovers then you should win easily.
Don't throw in the towel just yet.
See, I see things completely differently. The coaching was one of the good things I took away from the UCLA game. I mean, how many times do you really need to try to put the square plug into the round hole before you realize that it doesn't work. All I know is that we would have likely lost that game by double digits if not for the coaching. If Crompton throws another INT in that spot or fumbles or simply runs the wrong way, there's no chance of him EVER recovering. Running the ball was the most favorable option as that's where your talent advantage is and it gave you the best chance to win so THAT'S what you do there. No question! Make UCLA stop your best option!
The fact is that Crompton is a TOTAL and complete bust, but we have zero options at that position. Hell do you really not believe that if Stephens had any kind of grasp of the system that he wouldn't have been in there? As bad as Cromp is... and that's REALLY bad... that's what you're stuck with this season. Sure it's disappointing because I think the team's got more than enough talent in every other spot to win alot of games, but you're just not going to be able to compete at this level if you're one-dimensional on the offensive side of the ball.
The season's far from over though and I fully expect this team to be playing pretty well by season's end. Who knows... maybe someone develops unexpectedly at the QB position. This is a solid team if they had a decent QB. Considering that nobody else in the SEC's been overly impressive, let's just see how things play out!
Phyllis-But it is a big deal. You almost killed Stanley. Dwight-Yeah right! I filled him full of butter and sugar for 50 years and forced him not to exercise!
Sure the UCLA loss was a disappointment, but for me wins and losses are not important to me. What I want to see is competitiveness. What really sunk Fulmer was the evidence that the team really gave up especially against our main rivals Alabama and Florida (not to mention Wyoming,) so a pulse against Florida in the 4th quarter would be an improvement.
Majorspur are you really 31? The reason I ask is you act like a 17 year old here. In fact, that is an insult to 17 year olds (sorry DJshock.) If you are 31 you truly are immature beyond your years.
Hey man, I think even the most levelheaded Vols fans got excited after W. Kentucky. The UCLA game was disappointing, especially seeing Cromps relapse, but it is what it is. I haven't given up hope, but it really all hinges on what you'd define as hope. 6 wins would be Ok with me, but 7 would be better. I hate to say it but just being competitive and playing hard would satisfy me.....wow, I'm starting to sound like a gamecock fan....This staff has inherited a mess, but as long as they can keep up the fantastic recruiting, we fans have a lot to look forward to......patience, my friends, is a virtue.
patience is the only virtue youre allowed when you have no choice
