Default Jon Crompton Named to Maxwell Award Watch List
The Maxwell Award has been presented to the outstanding collegiate football player in America since 1937. Jr. QB Jonathan Crompton and Senior runningback Arian Foster have both been named to the watch lists for this prestigious award.

Really? Crompton? I mean, he has looked really good so far, but we haven't even seen the new offense. I expect Crompton to be good - real good - probably better than Ainge is what most are saying so far, but how have the powers that be seen enough to name him to the Maxwell watch list?

I'm interested in hearing all of your thoughts.

May be they are just putting him on just in case he flourishes in the new offense and they will look bad if they forgot him. He definitely has the weapons around him to have a great year.

Crompton has arguably the best offensive line in the conference, A deep wide receiving core that can spread out, and a top-tier running back to take pressure off of him and help in the play action game.

He can make all the throws and only has to minimize mistakes to excel in the SEC this year. I think he's going to be special.

Yea, I am excited. I just hope we can win 2 out of 3 of our first big three games. If we can beat UCLA and either Florida or Auburn in September we will have a great shot. That will be a tough order though.

We will be much better than UCLA. There is no reason we shouldn't win that one.

Florida will be ready coming off of a bye week. I honestly don't see us winning that game.

Auburn won't be as good offensively as some of the fans think. I am honestly not that scared of them.

I think we beat UGA at home as well. As much as has been written about them, they really weren't challenged at all last year other than vs. us. They won't be any better than we are and we have had their number for the past several years.

Crompton has the talent and the supporting cast for a good year, but I don't know about him being on this list. With UT's O-line being one of the conference best I would figure Crompton would pass once for every three times that UT runs the ball.
