^I guess it's gonna take another five years till folks realize it's not just somebody playing better or not playing good enough, it's the "ole ball coach" who is past his prime by a decade.
Yeah, clearly fumbles can be laid at the feet of the headcoach.
One quick question----for a major university with 20,000+ students, can we not find someone who can kick the ball off further than the 20 yd line? If something is not done to stop giving our opponents the ball at the 30+ yard line, we are in even worse trouble---CJ Spiller will be awarded the Heisman based on his single game statistics against us

OUR D SHOULD HAVE HAD THE CHANCE TO STUFF TENN DEEP EARLY ON.
Politicians should be required to wear uniforms like NASCAR. At least the TAXPAYERS would know who their corporate sponsors are !

i am hoping that next year we will have a team to reckon with..if we do the same things and have the same results after next year, although i will always follow em, i will never expect us to do more that 7-5
I'm going to say this, and I know it's not a good excuse...but we have a pretty tough schedule this season with no break. I feel just as tired as the team, they look tired. We have the depth, but not the long drive.. Someone needs to get these boys back on track and quickly. Three games left and I want to end in the top 25.
Arky is going to give us worse fits than TN, IMO. WE gave the game to TN because we took advantage of the win from last year, and the good luck we've had this year. Not gonna cut it. TN is tough, but they aren't there yet either, so IMO we lost this game to an equal rival, and we just gave the East title to FL, which really chaps my arss.
AS we've said for the last umpteen years, something's gotta give...and Spur is a great coach, but as much as I can't stand Kiffin, his young, aggresive aura is what is driving his team...I hate to say it, but we need one of him....Spurs got us some players...and Johnson gave us some good D, it's just not working this way....
This was never going to be anything more than 7-5 type season. We're the 3rd youngest team in the NCAA. We have 7 seniors on our entire team. This is exactly where I thought we'd be at this point in the season (except I thought we'd lose to Ole Miss and beat UT). When our team hits the field on Saturday I want you to start counting the number of freshmen you see playing. It will amaze you. We've still got a chance to accomplish some nice things this year with a very young team. All is not lost. We had some bonehead fumbles in a bad weather situation or else who knows what would've happened. We just have to put this one behind us move forward. I understand your frustration but the season is far from over.
Ok, so now we're 6-4. Want to spin that, Beeds? This is NOT where I thought we'd be at the beginning of the year. I was hoping for 9-3, but thought 8-4 would probably be our mark. I knew Fla was a definite loss, but other than that, thought we had the horses to compete with everyone else and probably win (what, with a new Big-10 line coach and all).
I say give this staff one more year with the talent that will still be here, and if we can't finish the last half 4-2 or better, then it's time to clean the slate for younger (and less expensive) blood.
Has the WAIT TILL NEXT YEAR CRAP STARTED YET? This South Carolina team needs to learn football because they just SUCK!!! vent over..........................
When life get's tough and things get tragic,
pack a BOWL it's FREAKING MAGIC!
Let's face it..... It's hard to recruit kids to come to USCe. They don't have the grand football tradition and there school requirments in acedemics are not as lax for there atheletes. Think way back when they came into the SEC they were thought of as a basketball school. The Spur-man has made them competitive in football and I think he did that by bringing kids in from the name he made for himself at Florida. He's getting older and the kids being recruited now probably don't remember his glory days in the swamp. Now he has to recruit against the tradition of the other SEC teams. I believe Spurrier has carried USC as far as he can. Coaching in general is progressing in leaps and bounds and those coaches who can't keep up adapt or lead will wind up with 7 & 5 teams. Bowl bound but not at the top. Just ask The Noles!
There are many problems on the team I keep seeing. So many, that it's hard to focus on just one. We, as fans, are not alone. I imagine the coaching staff is frustrated as well to maybe the same extent or greater as us. I just hope the players are mad and frustrated too, cause that hopefully means that they actually give a crap and want to play better.
I can't complain much cause I was expecting somewhere around 8-4 give or take a win or loss. BUT... One thing I will call out that really has me confused is why the heck are we only rushing 3 guys against arguably the best passer in the conference? I understand you sometimes want to drop a couple extra into coverage, but holy crap. I'm yelling at the TV on almost every play because we literally only bring 3 guys 90% of the snaps. Mallett had all the time he cared to use to find more than one guy open every play.
Heck, you put me back there, and give me that kind of time, and I promise you I'm gonna find someone open eventually, and then proceed to get off a nicely thrown ball cause I know I can take my time, and not get hit.
That's really the only thing I have to complain about, cause the other things that cost us the game are nothing new.
I must say, though, that I'm on the "We're just really young" bandwagon. Hopefully no one gets arrested/kicked off the team next year so I don't have to keep saying that every year.
I do believe however, that if we lose out (hopefully not, but all signs are pointing that way), I think next year is put up or shut up for Spurrier. In all seriousness, he has done more here than any other coach in our history, but I'm sick of seeing the same nagging problems plague us every year, most of which is due to poor coaching.
2010 is put up or shut up.
