Default WB in the Coming Years
Here's an idea of what the WB could look like in the near future:
Williams Brice Stadium - Columbia, SC
I like it. Hopefully this will happen sooner rather than later.

I want bigger scoreboards in those corners, but other than that looks good.

Does the plan really include painting the stadium white though or were they just too lazy to change it to grey concrete?

These are just an artist's rendering of what he wants for the stadium. I saw them a few months back. Awesome renderings though. If WB expanded to that, I'd be more than happy.

Are the extra new seats all over what is now the student section? That is what it looks like.

From everything I've gotten from the Gamecock Club the plan is to brick the facade inside the stadium.

That's really the only part that staduim where you can fit a lot seats. I'm not sure what they are going to with the students if this is the case. My guess is just keep them there.
Does any one have a time line on the staduim updates? I hope it's a lot sooner than later.
I can't wait to see the WB with 90,000+.

Do you know how loud that stadium will be with it all enclosed like that? If the stadium gets renovated to look like that by the time I get to USC in 2012, I'll be ecstatic! I love going to football games, and I love how loud the stadium gets, and with 90,000 screaming fans in an enclosed stadium like that, we'd compete with the largest stadiums in the nation in noise.

2 things.

1. Could have done w/out the 2001 Space Odyssey theme
2. Looks sharp. What would this proposed expansion move the capacity to?

We're looking at around 87,000-90,000.

The additions are certainly exciting---however:
1. Produce a more consistent winning program to ensure the addition is warranted---do we want a stadium like our redneck neighbors in the upstate ( Klempson) where all corners of the upper deck remain empty ( nothing looks worse on TV)
2. Produce a more viable parking plan making it easier for the "common" guy to gain parking less than a mile away from WB---parking situation currently sucks unless you pay 25 grand a year

Don't hold you breath. They just got rid of nearly 500 parking spots at the fair ground. I know next year the farmers market is moving, but I wouldn't count of any more parking spots than what they have had in the past.

if this is supposed to be done by the 2010 season shouldn't work start now? I know alabama has been working on their endzone expansion that is supposed to be done for the 2010 season already. When they expanded the north endzone they worked through the entire 2005 season to get it ready for 2006. I do hope they do this though, i would love to have this version of the stadium for my senior year at carolina.
