Just a little more than 72 hours away from the season opener with Mississippi State, South Carolina went through practice in shorts and shoulder pads Monday afternoon at the Bluff Road Facility.
“Guys are getting anxious to play, I think, I believe,” USC coach Steve Spurrier said.
Spurrier also stated that freshman cornerback Captain Munnerlyn was cleared earlier that day by the NCAA Clearinghouse. Munnerlyn is listed as the backup to Carlos Thomas at one corner position and Spurrier expects him to see action against the Bulldogs.
The news on some of the injured players was mixed. Receivers Moe Brown (ankle) and Mike West (hamstring) are currently doubtful for the opener. Offensive guard Thomas Coleman is expected to be in the line-up after rolling his ankle late last week.
“Moe is still gimpy so I don’t know if he’ll be able to play. Coleman was back though. He was running around pretty well. West is still a little lame with his hamstring. I don’t know how he’ll be Thursday night,” Spurrier said.
