News: Merrifield Hits Grand Slam As Carolina Earns 14-6 Win Over USC Upstate

Whit Merrifield hit his first career grand slam and Andrew Crisp and Nick Ebert each drove in three runs as South Carolina defeated USC Upstate 14-6 on Tuesday evening up at Harley Park. Carolina improves to 27-14 for the season while the loss drops the Spartans to 10-29 for the year. South Carolina returns home for a Wednesday night non-conference tilt with in-state rival Clemson, scheduled for 7 p.m. at Carolina Stadium. The game can be heard on the Gamecock Radio Network and at GamecocksOnline.com.

A good win tonight. It would be a huge week if we could sweep the midweek (beat that pesky team from the upstate tomorrow) and win the series down in Gainesville this weekend.

I live in the area and had hoped to go to the game but it didn't work out that way. Glad to see all worked out for my gamecocks. Now lets go kick some tiger butt and claim the series for the year.

I went a had a good time. Nice field and the ball Whit took deep would have been out of any park around. He smoked that sucker. I hope we have some tater salad tomorrow.
