[fpic]http://www.sectalk.com/teams/South_Carolina.gif[/fpic]Should Lou Holtz Be Asked To Resign?

Now before I get all of the USC fans in an uproar, hear me out at least. The University Of South Carolina is a top notch university. It has the money, support, high schools, and the facilities. So what's the problem with winning? The problem is the fact that we lack imaginative play calling. How many times can you run the quarterback draw before someone catches on? Mr. Holtz has been at this university for six (6) years now and what do we have to show for it? I for one, have ALWAYS been a staunch supporter of Mr. Holtz and his system, but now I am having my doubts. This is a coach that has some of the best players in football at his disposal. Does he use them effectively? The answer is a definite no. I'm not pretending to be an "armchair" coach, but it doesn't take a "Albert Einstein" to see what's going on.
For all of those that do not know me on this site, I have always defended Mr. Holtz and preached against changing coaches unless there is a decline in the program. Technically, there isn't a decline, but I don't see it getting any better anytime soon. I bleed garnet & black but I cannot and will not continue to support a university that encourages and embraces mediocrity. This is a university that can be a consistant winner in the SEC East if it's weapons are used effectively. The only way that I would reconsider my opinion is if they were to beat Florida and Arkansas this year. Winning one or both of those would show improvement in the program. Honestly, they may beat Arkansas, but I don't think they will beat Florida. Reasons why I think Mr. Holtz should be asked to resign, well here's a list:

#1: A true test of the program after 6 years would be defeating Tennessee, Florida, and Arkansas.
#2: After 6 years, what do we have to show for it? This was just another let-down for our players. There's no reason to lose by 14 at home.
#3: The play-calling is just plain POOR! There is no imagination in play calling nor logic sometimes.
#4: Mr. Holtz did not have these kids prepared to play Tennessee. Yes they dominated UT in the first half, but it's like the defense just gave up.
#5: Even if USC goes bowling this year, does that mean that it was a successful season?

Granted, this was a heart breaking loss and it will be remembered. I'm not one to mince words or to gloat, but USC's AD really needs to think about the USC coaching staff and it's future before he starts worrying about his own future. That is what "www.firelouholtz.com" is all about. Your thoughts and opinions are welcome!
