SEC Trash Talk This level of success isn't attained without intense competition. This competition inevitably fosters the cruelest rivalries in the land. From inter-SEC schools battling for a symbolic bowl trophy to SEC schools showing other conferences who is the best, fans cannot resist the smack talk that comes with these rivalries. Restrict all trash talk to this forum. No exceptions.

I'm sure every coach in the SEC is smiling with all this new ammunition to battle Florida with in the recruiting war.I see now where Tebow got all his attention whoring from.

I must be a terrible human being!!! I cannot find sympathy for a person who openly manipulates the media the way Meyer has. STRESS??????????? Stress is trying to come up with next months mortgage payment when you have been laid off, or trying to feed you family with no income or prospects of a job. STRESS ???????? being paid top dollar to coach a GAME in the nations top program ????
Sorry, not buying this one. If Meyer is looking for sympathy, tell him it lies between sh** and syphillis in the dictionary.

I'm sorry, but this is idiotic. There's no stress in coaching college football??? Coaching in the SEC???? Coaching at Florida??? Give me a break. Meyer, Saban, Richt and Kiffin know more about stress than most people will ever know.

Thanks to TNCheckeredBoards for the sig!

What the hell is wrong with you?

The man has enough health problems to force him to give up control of his dream. There is no need for these kind of posts, even if they are in the trash talk forum.

I am going to try to give Urban the benefit of the doubt. Don't get me wrong with the next sentence or two but it has to be mentioned so ya will know where I am going with this. I don't want to believe this was to divert attention from Bama's nc hopes. I don't want to believe this is premade excuse for next year's rebuilding. I don't want to believe anything but it was stress related illness which can become serious and lead to worse things. Yet, why all the hoopla? I'm not gonna coach, I am gonna coach, I'm gonna be with family and help choose a new coach. Since when is a sec caliber coach so wishy washy? Maybe he needs to get in a duel exhaust car with a cougar and get his balls back! My question to the whole thing is "WHY WAS ANY MEDIA NECESSARY FOR ANY OF THIS?" Nothing more than an Urban is ill statement and wish him the best was necessary. Why couldn't he just go to the hospital, spend some time with family, do exactly what the doctor said do and keep the Florida machine workin? His assistants would gladly step up to help with the Sugar Bowl and recruiting. There isn't a recruit listed that is interested in Florida that would change his mind if an assistant told him that Urban was fine but doing what the doctor ordered. As for the Sugar Bowl, the assistants and Tebow could have made a game plan that works for Florida just fine. Ok maybe not as good as with Urban there but these guys know to do what has been working for them. I want Urban to get better like anybody else would but if this is stress related why are they bringing in the National Enquirer to report on it? That aint helpin stress in any kind of way!

If the guy is having serious enough problems, to where the best medical advice is for him to quit, I doubt that the timing of the announcement was at the forefront of his (or anyone elses) mind.

The sooner the announcement is made, the sooner we could have hired a new coach.

EDIT: I'll add that in 2010, we will have the same "excuses" as we had in 2007: lack of experience. Urban doesn't need to fake excuses for losses. In fact, I think it's pretty low to even bring that idea to the table.

The presser yesterday has been scheduled for a while. It was supposed to be a welcome to the sugar bowl deal, but with the recent news, it turned into "what's your future at uf look like" conference.

Come on now, I'll answer!
I was happy for the conference because instead of "insider reports" we actually got to hear from Coach Meyer and Jeremy Foley.
Straightforward, to the point, honesty about the lack of information and indecisiveness.
Although many of the questions weren't answered, it was only because either they were too personal concerning his condition(s) or there just were no answers yet.
I think it was good to get everything out in the open so that now, the only major question is "When will Meyer come back?"

^ this too.
bbqit: Did you think this press conference was scheduled only to talk about Meyer's leave of absence?

Maybe they will hold a press conference to announce when a press conference will be announced. Maybe they will answer a question with a question that will answer what they may say. If Florida wanted to they could have cut out the bs long before I typed this. I'm not blaming Meyer for this I am blaming Florida for being childish.
