Florida Florida's Urban Meyer Meets The Press. Will There Be 3rd Decision Soon?
Up until the past 48 hours I thought Urban Meyers was a smart man. His professional record would certainly back that up as would his heretofore dealings with press, his players and employers.

However the last two days have made millions wonder just what's going on inside that head of his. Sure this is an emotional time for him, but these are millions of dollars at stake, a University and young men's lives that hang on your announcements and quite frankly, you're looking like a buffoon now by changing the most important decision of your life so far so quickly.

At today's press conference, you said that you will now be taking "an indefinite" leave of absence but left open exactly what that means.
In the first announcement you said it was your family that caused you to make the decision to walk away, today you said it was your "second family", the players that made you decide not to walk away.

It makes you appear like a man who makes decisions based on emotion and who is in front of you at that moment.

So what's next Urban, will you coach every other game? Will you Come back after your recovery for treatment of your condition? Or will you now serve as a Coaching Advisor to the interim coach and offensive coordinator Steve Adazzio while you're out?

I would say if one considers Meyer's professional decisions to be the "most important" decisions in his life then one probably has curious priorities.

Urbie is suffering from that beatdown Alabama gave them, along with losing "Little Timmy Tebow" that the mighty Crimson Tide made cry! That's okay though. They will be taking some major "thumpings" beginning next season, and lasting for many seasons to come. Florida's glory days are over! ROLL TIDE!!!!

A couple of things:

1. Act like you've been there, Bro. I know BAMA had fallen on some hard times and nothing in this world makes me happier than seeing us rise from the dead the way we have. However, if you're old enough to remember, we've been there before.

2. What's with all the UF hate? They're not a rival, hell, we barely have a history with them outside the SEC championship game.

Meyer made a move that put his family first.More coaches across the country should put family first. In his press conference,he said the first steps in their path to winning was Take care of your health and family.Gotta respect him for that.

If you can't take the heat, got out of the kitchen. Or I guess in this case, you step outside of the kitchen until you cool off, then you MIGHT come back in, if you feel like it. If you don't feel like it, then your kitchen burns down with a guy who sucks at his job

I feel bad for Meyer, and I hope whatever illness he has that he recovers from it, but this whole situation just seems REALLY shady

He "put his family first" when he resigned. He even admitted he did not tell them he had changed his mind until they were getting on the plane for New Orleans.

You find a balance for your family and your work. Most people who do what Meyer did are called unemployed. Taking care of your family is surely number 1 priority, but I think a lot of other coaches handle it pretty well.

He'll have another "change of heart" after he wins his bowl game.

If I had answers instead of opinions, I'd be coaching....

Meyer's health problems are pretty well-documented, and are not some sudden revelation or a result of his time at UF. He has blacked out on the sidelines of games twice before he ever even took the UF job. He reconsidered his options, and thinks he can address his health issues, and make the necessary changes to his regimen (delegate some authority) to be able to continue coaching where he wants to. Some of you folks are pathetic.

And learn where to post threads... if you want to talk trash (and Bleacher Report "articles" qualify by default), post in that forum.

It's troubling how many true haters are on this site...it's no different than a friend of mine who got burned out...he saw 40 patients a day...worked on case-studies...had 2 kids and a wife that never saw him. Dude went into meltdown...nearly got divorced. Had to step away from his practice several months...recharge his batteries. Took his family on a 3 month vacation...and when he returned he toned things down. Saw fewer patients...was home every night by 6...little things go a long way. I guess some folks here have never worked hard enough to realize what a toll this can take on a person mentally and physically.

It was funny today after the presser, when Holtz and May were weighing in on it. The host said something to the effect that on message boards and on blogs, lots of people were trying to compare their stressful jobs to Meyer's situation, and saying they have to deal with stress every day, too, and they don't quit. Holtz just laughed and laughed... there is no comparison to what a college coach of a big-time program has to be responsible for, and the stress most other professionals endure. Add to that that Meyer has very real physiological problems that are compounding the stress problem; and it's just absurd for most folks to try and put themselves in Meyer's position, and make a rational judgment.

Like Monte Kiffin and Andy Reid? I kid, I kid...sort of. Some coaches do but I'm sure many don't. You cannot, CANNOT work the amount of hours some coaches work (in the past Jon Gruden as an example) and possibly be fair to your family. Tony Dungy had the right idea of work hours and yet sadly and ironically he lost a son to suicide.
