Yeah, but what we've learned about the last few years is that if you get to the NCG without having played good teams to get there, your team is woefully unprepared for the game against a team who had to fight to get there. tOSU cruised through their lousy schedules for the past 2 years; and ended up getting hammered by SEC teams who had to fight week in and week out to get there.

These last 2 years have been pathetic for Weis. I know they have the young player excuse now, but next year they'd better get it together. I used to just hate Weis because he was a cocky SOB and an overrated head coach (though I thought he was a brilliant offensive coach), now I just feel sorry for him (not really) as all the crap he was talking his first 2 years just makes this situation even more embarrassing and his own fat foot is now inserted into his mouth.

What's funny is they'll probably enter next year ranked

That's of course true but with a Urban Meyer led offense, Notre Dame would probably be far from woeful. The easy schedule usually never applies to Notre Dame unfortunately, let's hope that changes if they ever get the chance.

And there's really no excuse...he's recruited pretty well since his arrival in South Bend, which means ND's problems are a coaching thing.

Could Urban Meyer leave Florida for ND? Absolutely. Do I think he will?

Not for a while. Eventually I think ol' Meyer will pack up and go to South Bend. For all of those talking about recruiting, ND is a lot like Florida.

They can open the door and accept the first 26 kids and then shut it. ND recruits all by itself.

Not anymore....which is why they haven't been relevant for a long time. Football is a southern (and southwest) game these days....you just can't win titles with Pennsylvania and Indiana kids anymore.

For the die-hards, fine....but most kids in 2008 want more than "Touchdown Jesus" and "The Four Horsemen."

So true. The only reason kids commit to ND is because they know they'll have another star added to their rating once they do. Someone should remind them that they will get bent over every December/January by a real team. IF they go to a bowl.

youd be silly to turn them down

NOT Happening! "The Urban Legend" would be a fool to go there. The only way is if they give him some ridiculous amount of money ie over $20 MM

Notre Dame is an aftertought in College Football to this generation.

Were it not for the old foggies of our day, they would not get near the run that they do!

BTW, you do realize that ND and Kentucky have the same records over the last 4 yrs right?

The CATS do have 3 consecutive Bowl wins and a 4th straight year of bowl eligibility which I would take anytime. Even with all of those SEC Loses you guys keep punking us with!
"Then make a deal!"

"Deal, what kind of Deal?"

"A Deal Deal, maybe the guy's a Republican!"

Maybe he'll get bored of winning so much at Florida, and switch schools for a challenge. Sort of like Joe Torre with the Yankees. Probly not though.

Except that Joe Torre was pushed out and offered a 50% pay cut and an insulting incentive based contract. That would be like Foley going to Meyer and saying, "2 mill a year, 1 mill for the SEC championship, and 1 mill for the national championship, 2 year deal ok?" He currently has a 4mil/year deal for 5 more years. Though if he wins out, expect it to go up.
Sensitivity Disclaimer: I post with sarcasm for the intended purpose of humor. If you can't handle that, perhaps the internet is too rough of a place for you.

I think it would be stupid for Urban to leave Florida but if it is his dream job I wouldn't be surprised to see him go. You've got to think about it, if you were coaching at a school like Texas, USC, or UF, with all the talent you need in your backyard, and your favorite team came calling for you, what would you do? I know I would be gone in a heartbeat even if I were to "downgrade" my job. Urban has added so much prestige to his name that he doesn't need to coach in a state with talent galore. He will be successful at ND if he were to go, he'll be successful at UF if he stays. Either way, I'm pretty sure ND will offer, so it will be interesting to see what he does. I'm putting my money on him staying.
