SEC Recruiting
Ah, Recruiting, Everyone wants to talk about recruiting.
Obviously written from a Vol standpoint, but has a ton of information on prospects that Florida, Bama, Auburn, LSU, Ole Miss ect. are recruiting. I hope you enjoy it. As you can see, I spent a lot of time researching and writing this. I had some help from a couple of Vol posters, and several sources that I cannot name so some of the credit should go to them.
seems to me like it takes many. Look i dont care if a kid goes to tenn. and i know its apart of the game to "steal" recruits. but lets see what happens if Urban can recruit his own guys and see Lane kiffin recruit their own guys ( not the ones we have or working on ) and then will see who the better team is.
I forgot to mention, if you get Luc, you can say good bye to your 2011 Linebacker.

Ha ha. They don't even play the same position. Try again.
I think I'd rather see what happens when we continue to recruit your entire commit list and everyone on your radar. They're most all in your backyard. Man-up and hang onto them if you can. If you can't, well too bad. That's recruiting.
We may miss out on 16, but if we keep just one guy away from Florida then that's a double whammy for UT.
If you thought anything other than Kiffin was coming into this league and putting a bull's eye squarely on Florida's back, then you haven't been paying attention from the outset. When you're the new kid on the block and you want to be the baddest, what do you do? You go after the biggest bully on the block.

I bet Kiffin's board looks like:
Whoever Urban Meyer and Nick Saban are recruiting...because they must be good.
As far as Kiffin "stealing" recruits...not a big deal. The Gators are gonna sign a top 3 class this year, maybe the top class...whether Kiffin gets Luc or not. We'll get ours...they'll get theirs.

It's not up to me or any other Gator on this board to "Man-up and hang onto them if you can"...nor is it up to you to try and take them. Maybe a recruit or two buys into what Laney's selling...they're 18 y/o kids and are prone to stupid mistakes.

Maybe Kiffin should've been more concerned with actually winning games...you know, instead of trying to reach the top shelf where he doesn't belong.

We have some pretty damn good talent evaluators on our staff as I'm sure you do. The reason we are going after your recruits has nothing to do with a lack of an ability to evaluate talent and everything to do with keeping recruits from going to Florida and Alabama.
I promise you if we don't think a guy is good enough, we won't take them. We just turned down a commitment from TJ Leifheit! Look him up, brah. Look at that offer list. You're not going to believe the class this group is going to put together this year.
This is football. You want to be the best you have to beat the best.

Must not be that good of evaluators if their more concerned with keeping players away from Florida and Bama...than actually recruiting the best players for their team...seems kinda childish to me...of course, Kiffin is the very definition of childish.

Lane Kiffin is a young dude. He relates with these players. Yes, they buy what he is selling. The results speak for themselves. This is a program that is obviously on the rise. We are competing against everyone we play with a talent-deprived roster.
Of course when you have Monte Kiffin on your defense, you can just point and say "That's Monte Kiffin. Be a Vol."

I can promise you Kiffin is chiefly concerned with winning games and he's seen this done before. He knows how to build a program and it begins and ends with recruiting. If we aren't right there with Bama and Florida every year, we won't compete. If we are, then we will. Take a look at the level of talent we have compared to you guys. Then imagine if we replayed that past game with an equal amount of talent. Be honest. How do you see that playing out?

Call it what you want. It's a recipe for success. Every player you take from Florida helps your team. When that player is a Marsalis Teague, Pete Richardson, or Jeff Luc and you add him to your team in addition, well that's a double win for you.
You can only get beat once per year on the field, but if you take a player from a rival team, that takes a good player off their roster for the next 3-5 years. Tell me that doesn't increase your odds of winning in the season.
Plus, a team like yours doesn't go after a ton of prospects, so you have to get in the boat late on guys to replace the ones we take. Look at Dietrich Riley for example. You guys never had a shot with him, but had to go there because of Elam potentially going elsewhere. And every minute you spend trying to convince Elam to stay is another you can't use trying to convince Chaz Green to come to Florida.

Gators would still win, IMO. Just because the score "appeared" close...doesn't mean a personel change would've mattered. We played UT's game and won...if not for a uncharacteristic Tebow fumble...you and I both know that score would've looked "better" from a Gator POV. Besides, Meyer and Co. have proven themselves as winners in CFB. Kiffin and Co. have not. You can have the best players in CFB...but if you can't coach 'em up, a team full of 2-3 star players will beat you every Saturday. We don't know if Kiffin and Co. can coach 'em up...they have yet to win a game that they weren't suppose to.

Again, Sabo...I don't think you know what you're talking about...the Gators offer about 100 players every season...if one falls, there's always a replacement. As far as your speculation concerning Dietrick Riley...his HS coach called Meyer...as far as your comment, "you guys never had a shot with him"...I'll take his word for it:
When asked how he felt about Florida offering:
"I started hopping around," Riley said. "I started running around the house. I was happy."
Not only is Riley, a 6-foot-1, 200-pound recruit, pleased the Gators are now involved but he's trying to plan an official visit to Gainesville.
Coach Brian White was on the coast last week and Riley hopes by the end of this week a date can be finalized. Speaking with Meyer was a big step for Riley, rated as the No. 10 safety and No. 94 recruit in the 2010 class by Rivals.com.
"I've been waiting for them to offer for quite a while," Riley said. "I mentioned that in all my interviews. Good things happen to those who wait. I was very patient throughout this whole process and I finally landed the offer.
"(Meyer) was talking for quite a while, he's great friends with my coach, so they have a good history and that's definitely a plus. He was impressed with my film, just my versatility and what I can do on both sides of the ball. He loves how aggressive I am and the attitude I play with.
"He was talking highly of my film and Florida itself. He was talking about Gainesville and how he'd love to get me out and of course that they'd like to offer me a scholarship."
He also has an official set with the Trojans for mid-December. UCLA and Washington are two other programs Riley is considering for a fifth official trip. Even though the date hasn't been finalized, Riley said he definitely plans to visit with the Gators.
"They're in my top I know that for sure," Riley said. "Just to get an offer from the No. 1 team in the country that's just an honor."
I'm not sure how Lane Kiffin is doing anything different from anybody else. Florida and Alabama have guys they are still going after that have already committed to different schools. You people need to get your head out of CLK's ass and start looking at the big picture.
