SEC Recruiting
Ah, Recruiting, Everyone wants to talk about recruiting.
4 star dual-threat QB Tajh Boyd is strongly rumored to be a silent commit after his recent visit to Tennessee. He is the 3rd ranked DT QB in the nation. This comes from Jimmy Hyams.

He'd be one hell of a catch. I generally trust Hyams.

Yeah he will. It will just serve to further cement this class solidly in the top 10. Not sure what effect a coaching change may have on it though. What are your thoughts on this, Mike?
And let me just say, I was right about Oku, and I think I'm right about this as well.

I think we'd need a guy who can really make a splash to hold onto most of these guys. There are many reasons to play for UT, but most of our talent is coming from out of state and those guys won't take playing for a coach different from the one they committed to very lightly. I wouldn't mind a guy with NFL experience since most high-level recruits have aspirations of making it to the pros. There is a great list of coaches out there and I think Phil should get the axe regardless of the class. I simply don't see us catching up to UF, UGA, Bama, etc, with him at the helm. It's not like those guys aren't putting together superb classes as well.

Wow.....a DT AND a QB! No one will want to put the rush on this guy.......
The suprising thing with Boyd, though, is that he actually doesn't WANT to be the major dual threat. He wants to be a drop-back passer. He wants a pro-style offense.

Yep. He's the 3rd most accurate passer in Rivals rankings as well. He is a lot more than just a runner.
It is difficult to say what a coaching change will do to recruiting. It is a circumstance that dramatically effects the future lives of 20-25 student athletes. Each one must make that decision and it is too difficult to predict how that will turn out. I guess it depends on why the athlete chose UT. If he picked UT because of tradition, exposure, Neyland Stadium, SEC match ups then he is likely to stay. If it is because of a personal relationship with Fulmer or someone on his staff then it is possible that he may decommit. It also depends on who is put into Fulmer's place and how good of a job the new coach is at damage control. This of course is all assuming Fulmer is let go.

I guess you would want a coaching search to take as little time as possible. All those people clamoring for Fulmer's head now, should take into account what that would do to our 7th ranked class.
A Tajh Boyd commit would be just what the doctor ordered right now. I bet he sees a good opportunity to play with our mediocre play at quarterback. I got to say I would like a quarterback that can run but wants to pass first. I too though am concerned about what might happen if we have a coaching change. If we were able to pull a Jon Gruden or Lane Kiffin I would be confident we could still pull a good class considering the change.
I agree with fernandomike. Make the coaching change and try to salvage a decent class. We need somebody that can hang with Saban, Meyer, Richt, and Miles and it doesn't look like Fulmer is the answer anymore.
3* OL commit Antonio Foster has decommitted and committed to Georgia Tech. Foster narrowly chose the Vols over GT in July and I think it's pretty clear the man who convinced him to come here is no longer the coach.
