His father stated that he better go to UF because they've spent a fortune on "Gator Gear"!!!

Other news:

Caleb King continues to show interest in the Gators...he injured his leg and is done for the season. It was thought to be an ACL or MCL injury...which would have been bad...but an MRI showed it to be a simple fracture...he'll only be out for 4-6 weeks.

The Gators reportedly have two "big" silent commits....they are speculated to be Deonte Thompson and John Brown...but I've also heard Ian Williams and a couple of other names. I'm hearing they'll go public in a couple of weeks. UF has 18 committments already...because Ryan Smith will count towards this years numbers, that leaves us with 9 spots left...Meyer and Co. are telling recruits to crap or get off the pot....I think this is a great approach considering most recruits like to stretch it out and teams sometimes end up empty handed on signing day.

The demise of f$u and scUM is only helping in our recruiting. Demarcus Van Dyke is a stud DB that committed to scUM prior to the season...with the probable pending coaching shake-up in Miami...he has opened up his recruitment...he wants to stay in Florida....and has little interest in f$u....he's schedule a visit to UF. Also, Berry, a 5* RB scUM commit...has scheduled a visit to UF as well. I'm also hearing the DB that committed to f$u, Paige, has schedule a visit to UF.

With only 9 spots remaining, look for UF to be very selective with the final commits. John Brantley, one of the top QBs in the country and early committment to Texas has also been in the picture as of late. He speaks to our coaching staff weekly...with the emergence of McCoy at Texas...and the very limited play of Jevon Snead, not to mention there's a couple of other young QBs on the roster, Brantley may end up in Gainesville. He and his family are huge Gator fans...they are season ticket holders and attend every home game...Brantley's father played for the Gators. The reason he chose not to attend UF in the first place was a mutual decision. He spoke with Meyer and both decided he wouldn't be a good fit at UF. He, like Leak, is a pocket passing QB...although, he's shown better ability to tuck the ball and run than Leak. This may get interesting.

The next couple of months are going to be exciting for UF recruitniks...several of the best players in the country have UF in the top 2 or 3 schools considered. BTW, look for UF to have between 9 and 12 players in uniform at the AAA Bowl Game.
I've been keeping up with the recruiting and I think the early commitments that we've gotten already should help the last few recruits to be big time. I like our chances of getting King from what I've seen. Another guy to keep an eye on is Tolliver.

Yep...forgot to mention Tolliver...Newton is recruiting him hard for the Gators and both are expected to attend the USCe game together...Florida will have a couple dozen of the nations top recruits at that game...kinda like f$u last year and, if UF performs on the field and wraps up the Eastern Division, look for the same recruiting results following the game...Florida could have the recruiting season pretty much wrapped up by mid-November.

Joe McKnight will likely visit UF...we're gettin' in on him a little late because there are a couple of other guys ahead of him on the board...still, it'll be hard to get him out of LA.

AAA Bowl Selectee Torrey Davis reaffirmed his committment to UF in a interview on Wednesday...also, Ahmad Black, the DB from Lakeland, has been moved up from a 3* to a 4* player...expect Johns, Wilks and Joseph to do the same in upcoming weeks.

I've seen this guy play and I would put him above just about anybody on our board at the moment. He is absolutely friggin ridiculous. I agree that it will be very hard to steal him from USC or LSU, but if we can I would probably cry with joy.

Yea...he got real popular on our board when King and Allen went down with injuries...I think Allen may be a little over-rated....King is a stud. We've got to get a big-time RB in this class. I look for UF to put the full-court press on Miami commit Berry...he's a 5* RB with size and speed...just what we want.

More News:

Hearing that De'Angelo McCray (DLO) has been recruiting for the Gators...has really been talkin' the Gators up to scUM commit Demarcus Van Dyke (DVD)...last night, Meyer was at DVD's football game...as DVD ran into the endzone, scoring his 2nd TD, he pointed to the Miami coaches that were there and did the "Gator Chomp"!!!

The Gators need to bring their "A" game for USCe...one, because the Cocks are playing better each week, and two, because the stands will be filled with big-time recruits....if things go right on the field...and we have the same energy we had after spanking f$u last season...let's just say the Gators will be set. More later.

Yea...some believe he'll be in our class...with the emergence of McCoy at Texas and the limited action that Snead has see, I think he's rethinking his decision...he reminds me a lot of Alex Smith...more so than Tebow...Tebow is a way better runner than Smith...Brantley does a little running in HS...and his passes are strikes...love to have him in this class...but if we do get him...with the numbers crunch...we're likely to have to cut the juco QB Waggener lose...or greyshirt him. Newton says that he's all for UF going after Brantley...this kid loves competition.

The Brantley rumors definitely have legs, it would be a nice payback to UTex for Snead. The kid is a Gator, he has been his whole life-just like Tebow(both families are Gators). It would be a shame to lose him to an OOS school when he is right down the road.

People predicting Brantley's success/failure due to Leak isn't fair. Brantley isn't Leak, he doesn't have Leak's weaknesses. Brantley has better field vision, quicker decision maker, quicker release, stronger arm, and better wheels. The comparison to Alex Smith is much better, but I believe Brantley has a stronger arm.

I wouldn't mind cutting Wagenner loose. He hasn't been doing that well this year....and maybe there are good reasons for that, but we need playmakers at the QB position, not projects. I think he has talent, but that offer was Meyer's safe bet to create some depth, even if it isn't the ideal chart he wanted.

Keep him to pad the depth chart, if we can--we're still under the schollie limit--but Tebow, Brantley, and Cam would be a truly murderers row.

I have to say I feel great about our chances of getting DeAngelo McCray. I think he's pretty much a lock at this point. Just a matter of getting him to announce publicly.

DLO stated today that UF is still at the top...said he would announce in a couple of weeks...said that UF has always been at the top...he just wanted to make sure. Sounds like a lock to me...but with DLO...you never know.

Yea...I kinda get the feeling we'll hold on to Wagenner just for the depth...but I agree...if we get Brantley...cut Wagenner loose. Give him the oppurtunity to gray-shirt...but even though we're signing 27...there's gonna be a numbers crunch...a lot of passengers but not enough seats...which aint a bad situation to be in.
