Florida With Urban Meyer Leaving, Will Steve Spurrier Throw His Hat in The Gator Ring?
If you are a South Carolina Gamecock athletic department official right now, are you making a mental note to look up the clauses that allow Spurrier to leave? Are you wondering at age 64 if he would be willing to leave South Carolina to end career at home in Florida?

Many are speculating just that. Many are also wondering if Florida would want to start over with a 64 year old coach, no matter if it is the famous prodigal son who led Florida back to the greatness it still enjoys.

Considering the average college coach only stays in one place for an average of four years, and given Spurrier's health, it would seem very possible to get another seven to eight years from him at least and let him groom a successor.

Spurrier would be coaching against his own legacy at Florida. No chance he even entertains the idea, imo. Carolina will be his last stop.

I don't see Florida wanting Spurrier nor do I see Spurrier wanting Florida. He's too close to retirement.

I bet it happens . Spurrier to Florida. How perfect is that, Spurrier going home to Florida to finish his coaching carrer and retire with a couple more NC's ?

Not happening....not that I would really care if he did...but I just don't see it. I really think Florida would be stupid to hire a 64 year old. What would he run? The Spread with all of the players Meyer has recruited? Or wait two years and try to recruit more of a pro style offense. He's already too close to retirement for that. Although if they'd give us a bunch of cash I'd take it.

Foley and Spurrier hate each other. If Foley weren't still the AD it would be a possibility.

Someone entertaining the idea that Spurs will leave SC to go to Florida. I literally LOL'd when I saw that. SC is his last stop. He's as dedicated to this Gamecock team as the USC fans on SEC Talk. Bet that.
