Sectalk The SEC Championship Game and What Each Must Do And Not Do to Win
For Florida - The Must Do's

They must make the passing game work because the running game won't. Everybody thinks they have the team that can run against Alabama and yet nobody has, so the passing game must work.

They must let Tim Tebow be Tim Tebow. Don't force him into a game plan that he's not comfortable with, let him run the offense. After all, hasn't he proven he IS the offense?

They must cover Julio Jones with two men or lose. Julio Jones can turn an eight yard out into a 45 yard touchdown because he's hard to bring down one on one.

They must pressure Greg McElroy. He is virtually unsung outside of Alabama fandom but if given time, Greg McElroy can be one of the most dangerous quarterbacks in all of college football. Teams that sell out to stop the run have found this out for themselves.

Florida's DBs will be fine. Joe Haden is considered by many to be the best cover corner in CFB. Major Wright hits like a truck and Ahmad Black is an interception magnet. Jenkins at the other corner started as a true freshman last season for a reason...he, like Haden, will surely be a 1st rounder in a year or two.

The Gators simply have to stop Bama's running game and force Bama to throw it...do this and win. Unlike Auburn, the Gators have depth and can grind it out with Bama if they need to, but the Gator secondary is the strength of the defense. Bama's QB can't beat the Gators with his arm...Julio or not.

I think the game will be a lot like last year...the team that makes the fewest mistakes will win. It's that simple.

In order to win, one team will have to score more points than the other.

This is going to be a heavily defensive game. And it will come down to mistakes, as in which team manages to intercept the other QB's passes, I'd say. If we can keep Ingram down, as well as Richardson, and it becomes necessary for Alabama to pass, I can smell the interceptions already. I suppose it would be good if Florida scored first, to make Alabama fight for it. That's when mistakes are made, against a strong team.

If we score first, I think we win. If we can't stop the run, we lose.

Julio Jones will get the A.J. Green treatment, and be made obsolete.

For Florida to win, they need the Bama team plane to get held up at the airport.

Its not going to be that easy for UF to stop Julio remember he had like 130 yds last year on them so dont think its going to be easy he has really turned it on the past 5 games

The Tide had driven more than 45 yards only once. On this possession, at this critical juncture in the season, Alabama drew from a different well, the well only winners tap. (Alabama vs Auburn 2009 ESPN reporter).

Prepare to be surprised my friend, Greg McElroy can beat a team with his arm. Now I can't say with 100% assurance that he'll beat an impressive Florida secondary with it, but I have full confidence in his decision making. We sometimes seem to forget this is his first season starting and he has yet to make a bad decision that almost cost us a game.

With that being said, we'll find ways to make the running game work. Trent Richardson being the number one work horse won't hurt.

I agree with most of this. I'm pretty sure Haden can lock down of Jones and we'll be ok there. The issue will definitely be stopping the run. It doesn't matter which running back is in, we just need to stop them. Dunlap and Cunningham should be able to pressure McElroy. The key will be to make McElroy beat us. That is certainly the weakness of the Alabama offense. If we can force them into 3rd and long situations we'll be able to win.

Offensively, the most important thing is to have no turnovers. We'll find ways to move the chains and we'll score enough to win so long as the defense stops the run.

I believe it will come down to who makes the least or most costly mistakes. The officiating can play a vital role as well. Let's hope it is actually correct and there are no seriously controversial calls or MISSED calls. I also hope no one on either team is slowed because of injuries. We want all the best talent out there. No excuses, just good, clean play.

I'm not really worried about our passing game if Julio is "shut down". Maze, Hanks, Peek and many more are just as capable to carry this team. Just ask Arkansas and LSU.

Sounds good to me, being that Mark Barron leads the SEC in interceptions with 7.

Hope you're right.

Force McElroy to pass being a key to a UF victory? LOL Wasn't that Auburn's plan too?

I'll be fine with that too. Dude can carry the team no doubts.

So let me see if I got this, both teams need to have solid special teams play, defend the run as well as the passing game well and not get behind and into long third down situations. Hmmmm, that really does make this game unique.
