Lsu Cochon de Lait
On rare occasion I have come back to read sectalk... it is nice to see everyone seems to be doing well.

Since leaving I have moved on to bigger things, not much of a message board guy anymore.

I'm actually hosting the 3-6p sports talk show slot on Northwest Arkansas' ESPN affiliate, ESPN 92.1 The Ticket. Which is part of why I'm posting this thread.

I would like to ask LSU fans, SEC fans in general what they think of Nike's Pro combat campaign.

LSU will be sporting some Washington Huskies-esque jerseys against Arkansas on saturday that sport the phrase "Cochon de Lait" tattooed on the inside of the collar.

Cochon de Lait is a Creole dish, literally translated "Pig in Milk" or "Pig Roast"

Now, this has largely been a manufactured rivalry since it's inception. Arkansas has won the last two straight meetings, Les Miles is taking some heavy, and what I consider legitimate, criticism this season for the team's offensive ineptitude, and now with this game having some significant bowl implications I want to pose this question.

What does Cochon de Lait mean to you guys? Is this rivalry anything more than it was just a few seasons ago? Or is it still largely a manufactured Thanksgiving prop?

Thanks guys, and I'll probably read some of these on the air throughout the week.

Cochon de Lait to most of us in Louisiana means cooking a full pig in the ground (a cooking pit dug into the ground). It's a long, slow cooking process, but one that yields about the best tasting pork you'll ever taste.

I can dig 'em for just 1 game. It's the color helmet they wore in the 40's.

Florida's aren't really that different than their normal jerseys, really the only difference is the weird looking geometric stitching on the shoulders.

I actually thought FSU's were pretty cool.

But yeah, most of them are either unimpressive or terrible looking. I don't think LSU's are terrible, they just don't look like LSU.

I really like the helmet,

I wish Ole miss would do the powder blue they had from way back.

TJ.

We have limited Dan to one call a day. He's great though.

Really, Steve in springdale is the only guy I'm comfortable with putting on multiple times a show and that is mainly because he's a former radio guy.

We are really happy with the feedback we are getting. The show is young, I'm young, Eric is a giant nerd, but I think we are going to be OK.

You guys do a great job, I listen everyday when I get out of class. On a side note, who would have ever thought that Dan was a Lady GaGa fan?

Haha! Not me... he seemed like the Kenny Rogers type to me. He came out to a remote I was doing... you couldn't meet a cooler old guy. He does like to talk though. With a lot of callers I'll just cut them off, out of respect I just can't do it with Dan.

By the way, thanks for listening to the show man! I still have class in the morning... trying to finish up my broadcast sequence. What are you going to school for?

Haha same thing, broadcasting. I have a 70s prog rock show on KXUA. As for LSU's uniforms, I think it's weird to make 80 someting jerseys for one game.

I used to be KXUA's programming director, and you may know Eric still does the concrete schoolyard.

Your show is on Sundays? The PROGram? I used to do the Campus Sports Crunch on KXUA... it got me the job I have now...

I'll have to listen in sometime. I used to do a post-rock show late nights. It was really just an excuse for me to listen to Godspeed you black emperor and Explosions in the Sky for two hours.
