Default Thoughts on Bama vs. /Miss State
Unfortunately, my recorded screwed up and I missed most of the first half. But two things surprised me in this game:
(1) Miss State’s QB can really throw the ball! Yeah he was not flawless but if he has time to set his feet, he can throw a perfect pass a long way!
(2) Alabama’s secondary has really improved. Last year or earlier this year, Miss State would have scored multiple TD’s. Bama did blow coverage on one play but the freshman State receiver didn’t turn around and got hit by the pass. I don’t know if the QB threw too early or the receiver screwed up but that could have been a TD. Otherwise, Bama’s secondary looked very good.
On another note, I saw posts on AL.COM where some Auburn fans posted about a missed call that called back an MSU TD on a kickoff return. But they were wrong. When the runner made a cut away from the sideline, his foot slide over the white line so the official made the right call.

Bama still has serious issues with its kickoff coverage. For the team to be so highly ranked, I cannot remember a Bama team whose kickoff coverage was more suspect. I guess the officials could be allowing holding though which might account for all of the kickoff returns this year by so many teams (including Bama). For example, I noticed that Auburn’s #90 held Georgia’s #22 with both hands preventing #22 from making a tackle. That was the lane that Auburn’s RB ran though when he ran a kickoff back for a TD late in the game. So much for the conspiracy theory that Auburn never catches a break.

Miss State came out fighting in the 1st Quarter. I just don't think MSU was ready for such a physical Alabama team.

Alabama still kills me with their kick coverage. Please, Alabama, make the damn tackle!!!

Congrats, you flat outplayed us. I may hate you, but I'll acknowledge you were the better team.

Best story I heard from the game: Older Bama fan yells RTR in the face of young Bulldog fan (I'd guess 4 or 5 yrs old). Kid kicks fan in shin. It was so wrong, but so funny...that little boy was mad as a hornet.

It was great to see TR pick up the corner blitz on the 1st TD of the game. I was hoping the commentators would commend it after the play, and I'm glad they did. Great job Trent!!

Let's see, the now 10-0 team defeated the currently 4-6 team 31-3. Yeah, there must be so much we can take away from this one. I'm surprised there's room for it all in one thread.

Well let's be honest, MSU should of beaten LSU and played Florida really close. They were close to beating a good Houston team and a very good Georgia Tech team.

We can take a little from it at least...

I think the game was a lot closer than the final score reflects. I do commend Tyson Lee, for he exceeded my expectations. There were two passes to O'Neal Wilder that would have resulted in touchdowns, but they were defended very, very well. We fought hard, but in the end I guess the better team won.
