How about we call the play what it was originally called? Wildcat. That's the name, not "a" name. All these wild rebel, wild hog, wild knight...it's just them trying to claim some credit over it.

I nominate "stupid" or "drive killer" cause thats pretty much what its been for us this season except the 2 times people have forgotten that Kodi Burns can actually throw the ball. Otherwise its; up the gut for a 1 yard fail, reverse for a 3 yard fail or DOUBLE reverse for a 2 yard LOSS super fail.

How about "wild-give it to Ingram and watch him rush for 10 yards?"

So to answer the original question, no, we cannot give it a single name because its to much fun to make up your own name for the same play. although in miami they just call it "the ronnie brown touchdown play"

The official name is the Wildcat formation. Houston Nutt is the one that started calling it the "Wild Hog" or "Wild Rebel"

The offense is nothing more than a single wing with the QB in the shotgun.

I think it would make us all look smarter if we just called it the single wing and then commented on how smart it was for Coach X to put Running Back Y back there so that he already had the ball.

"Man, that guy is so talented but that play really helps the RB with his field vision John. Yes it does SEC, I don't know why everyone isn't running it, Madden says to me as Brown takes it to the house."

I mean if it is just the old historical single wing with a RB back in the gun then there is no reason to make up a gimmicky name. People are already calling the play gimmicky when it is really just an old play that has been in the books forever. I want to see the wishbone make a comeback.
"I don't know, we haven't played Alabama yet." -- Vince Lombardi after being asked what it felt like to be the greatest football team in the world just after winning the '66 Super Bowl.
