The numbers say one thing when you look at Ed Orgeron’s head coaching career at Ole Miss.
He was winless in the SEC during his final season in Oxford before getting fired, and lost 21 of the 24 games he coached in against SEC competition.
But when Tennessee coach Lane Kiffin looks at the talent on Ole Miss’ roster, he views Orgeron’s three seasons in Oxford a little differently.
"These guys are loaded," Kiffin said.
Orgeron, now the recruiting coordinator/defensive line coach at Tennessee, recruited most of the players the Vols will line up against this Saturday at Vaught-Hemingway Stadium.
“As you can see, 20 of the 22 guys being juniors or seniors are starting [for Ole Miss], so obviously he did a phenomenal job of recruiting there across the board,” Kiffin said. “I wish he wouldn’t have done such a good job because now we’ve got to go play these guys. They have some great players.”
Kiffin also suggested that Orgeron left Ole Miss coach Houston Nutt in a lot better shape talent-wise, particularly on the defensive line, than what former Tennessee coach Phillip Fulmer left Kiffin.
“There was a scout here the other day that said that four of their defensive linemen will probably be drafted on Day 1,” Kiffin said. “I wish we would have been left with some of those guys.”
This POS just never shuts up... it's incredible. I've never witnessed one person who fails to say the right thing every single time he opens his mouth. Just by the law of averages, most everyone will eventually say the right thing at least once or twice, even if it's by accident... not this a**hole. Hey Kiffin, just for the record, the recent recruiting classes for the 2 programs look like this:
National Team Recruiting Rankings
2009 - OM 18th - UT 10th
2008 - OM 29th - UT 35th (Because OM took 31 players to UT's 18 players)
2007 - OM 27th - UT 3rd
2006 - OM 16th - UT 23rd (Again, because OM took 30 players to UT's 22)
You can't really worry about facts when you're busy licking the hind-end of one of your assistants while making excuses for your own possible loss by throwing your kids under the bus. Pitiful.

That last part wasn't a shot at Fulmer, he said "I wish we would have been left with some of those guys." That's not a shot, that's just being obvious.

Is that what he's doing... going ahead and firing off a few volleys just in case they lose? Seems like he does that before every game; although this would be the first time I've seen a coach refer to his current group of players as the bottom of the barrel.
Maybe it's just me, but I don't think that's very inspirational or supportive of a group who looks like they've been working their a$$es off to hang with some of the more talented programs in the conference, despite an obvious coaching deficiency. They've been making him look good, and the best he can do in return is say they're not a very talented group. Jeez, thanks Coach.
Oh god he should be reprimanded or suspended. What an atrocious comment. This is national news. Someone call the police. I think we should hang him. What do you guys think?
You have got to be kidding me. Get a life people.......

Uummm, except it's not obvious... UT has had the better recruits. And even if they hadn't, I hardly think you want to be bashing them in public.
What do you think coaches all across time have told their players? Even though this was not Kiffen's intent, Players get told the truth all the time. Believe you me, they know he has their back. But I'm just saying you can't really call that "A shot at philip fulmer"
Take this for what its worth.. Auburn has arguably recruited better than UT in that time span but we have virtually no defensive depth to speak of, and fairly few playmakers..
It may be a jab, but it doesn't mean it's not the truth.

Wow lets turn everything that Kiffin says around to the way we think so he can look like a jacka$$. Okay, my turn. This is just a hunch but maybe he was just crediting Ole Miss for having a talented team. Maybe he is just doing what he has done every week and crediting the opponent with respect in any way he can. That way when we beat them this Saturday he can go into his locker room and be honest to his team in saying we just beat a very talented team. Its hilarious that you people find a way to bash him even when he is complimenting the other team.
Like I said earlier.... get a life and stop studying Kffin's everyday comments so you can find something he said and twist it.

No, it's none of that; but couldn't the guy ever just give an assessment without bashing or pointing out some perceived shortcoming with somebody else? For the life of me, I'd just like to hear this guy own up to something for once, instead of pointing his finger at the previous coach, his players, or other programs. It's child-like... sorry, just being brutally honest.
