Theres no point to playing them. If you lose its embarassing and if you win you get no exposure. UGA got no publicity for beating them cuz they were supposed to.

Avoiding tough non-conference opponents is the new trend in college football thanks to the BCS. The championship system discourages dangerous, if exciting, out-of-league scheduling as it continues to sap the life out of the regular season.
I think this line is the best one from the whole thing! People argue that a playoff ruins the regular season, but the BCS is doing it to....

These USC players have to be embarrassed, I mean, come on! They got beat by players that actually have to go to class!-Jay Leno

Correct me if I'm wrong but didn't UGA play Hawaii not Boise State?
And boy look how far that one game has set them back in the world of college football haha, its great, somebody in the SEC definitely needs to do the same thing to Potato State.

Boise State also would like a home and home series .... not just come to Tuscaloosa or Athens or Oxford but for our teams to go play on the "Blue Turf" .... They want to play but only by their rules and what benefits them .... it doesn't benefit a SEC team unless Boise State is going to pay big dollars which their school and program can't do. I am sorry but they are no .... Southern Miss .... anyone anywhere anytime ....
Boise State and the WAC just hired a PR firm to help them with their issues in the BCS. My guess is this is part of their plan.
Oh woe to BSU. We're so good that no one will play us, and that is why our schedule is too weak to be considered for a BCS game. It's your fault, not our crappy conference's. WAC hires PR firm to boost BCS chances - ESPN
If Boise State were serious about the BCS, they, along with TCU, Utah, and BYU from the MWC would form a new league that would at least be a western version of the Big East.

The only answer is to play better non-conference opponents. Next season they have games against Oregon State and Virginia Tech. After that though, things may be drying up. In 2011, they can’t get one game, let alone two.
If Oregon State or Va Tech blow this one, they should be ashamed of themselves.

Maybe I did not read it correctly, or maybe you didnt read the article at all, but BSU is just asking for anyone to play them. They will go anywhere according to this arrticle....

The very first thing they ask for is a home and home ....
Second is a 2 out of 3 .... home, away, home ....
Third is to just be able to play .... hopefully early in the season on prime time ....
I think we could manage. We are consistently playing good OOC teams every year. A&M, Texas, Tulsa, Troy, USC.. and we even demolished BSU about 7 or 8 years ago.
