Florida coach Urban Meyer has been fined $30,000 by the Southeastern Conference for public comments about a call he said officials missed during last week's game against Georgia, the conference announced Friday.
It's the first time the SEC has fined a coach under bylaws the conference toughened late last month, following a spate of public comments by SEC coaches questioning calls and criticizing officials.

Unbelievable. The coaches need to continue making noise. Bad calls are made every year...but this year, it's been almost completely ludicrous. Especially when it comes to one of those little crews in particular.
I wouldn't pay it if I were Meyer...what are they gonna do? Ban the Gators from the SEC?...that 13 million the Gators have brought to the conference is too important.

You mean the $13 million that the SEC gets to distribute as it sees fit?
No, I can't imagine what the SEC might do if Meyer refuses to pay.

30k is chump change for a $3-5MM year coach. Laughable. I mean, there are what?... 12 weeks in a year. It's only $360k if you complain every week. So, instead of making $5,000,000, you make $4,640,000. I could deal with that.
while i think Meyer had alot of freaking gall to bring up the no call, I think he did in a decent way and shouldnt have been fined.........Kiffin, different story, but after Slive opened his mouth he had to fine Meyer to save face

Meyer probably has 30 grand in change in his ash tray.

Meyer probably wipes his butt with 30k everyday anyways. He made his complaint in a more diplomatic way than Kiffin, but he just had really bad timing.
I didn't have a problem with a fine; but, sh*t, 30 large ain't chump change for anybody... I thought Slive was talking about 5 grand at most, and then a suspension for a second offense.
Oh well, it'll be interesting to see if everyone can mind their mouths now that they know what it costs to open it... even when you're right.
