So what you're saying is that just winning 8 or 9 games a year and going to an occasional bowl game is all we should strive for? Then why even play!? I'm so sick of the Ole Miss fans who are satisfied with mediocrity. We're not playing in CUSA! This is the SEC and I would like to see Ole Miss at the top, not always one of the bottom feeders!
Winning 8 or 9 games a year is not an occasional bowl game. That's a bowl game every single year. And 9 wins in the SEC is respectable to say the least. The only reason 9 wins is a fluke to most people this year for ole miss is the expectations.
Geez! If we aren't even going to try and win a Championship, then why am I buying season tickets every year, driving 2 1/2 hours to get to each game, and giving to the Loyalty Foundation if nobody at Ole Miss has their goals set any higher than just a winning season? UT fans demand more and they get it. Rebel fans who think it's okay to be mediocre in the best conference in the nation really irk me!

Dude we want the rebels to win championships too. That's why we buy season tickets. You think Nutt and the players don't want to as well? We all had our goals set higher. You can't go off getting pissed at rebel fans because we admit we had an average season this year. It's one year. Nobody knows what will happen next year or the next. Give it time. We don't think it's "okay" to be mediocre

I know what you mean but you have to look at the bright side. If we bring in about the same recruiting class as last year we will be (set up) to have some good years. The young players that played this year already showed sparks of being really talented. Patterson? Scott? Shackleford? Those guys should be stars in the future. If we can get a qb that can live up to hype or play consistent. Watch out for us. Don't worry, the rebels are down, but shouldn't be for long.
Snead has been absolutely awful! What's worse is that I think he's totally clueless as to just how much he has hurt the team. I noticed in the press conference he was asked if he had thought about his draft chances. The only draft he's going to feel will be from the wind!

Yeah and he denies locking on to one receiver. Which is totally true. He does it all the time.
Good and bad news. Snead will most likely be back next year. Thing is, he could turn around and be a stud again, or......... Yikes. Another fluke year with him holding the team back. I will pull my hair out if that happens. I guess we'll see
Hey you all I am just across the river from Greenville, MS I AM A NUTT HUGGER His teams will fight you to the last down. I doubt Ole Miss will win a National Championship but might win the West in the SEC a time or two. Doesn't matter to me I do know he will do his best. Snead has been a big let down this year but Nutt is at his best in November so lets not give up on him yet. The way the AR fans treated Nutt is a crying shame. Hope you guys have more class than the Beer Joint Bullies in AR.
The good thing Nutt can do is get good top notch assistants to work for him. With a good player here and there no telling what might happen.
I would have wanted to keep Cutcliffe is I were an Ole Miss fan. He is about to take Duke to a bowl game, but I agree. Houston Nutt is the best coach Ole Miss has had recentally.
Cut didn't know the names of his recruits on signing day and refused to play p willie. nuf said.

First you got to be good to have a chance, only a chance, to get to atlanta. Second you got to have a little help to get ya to atlanta cause rarely does anybody win them all. Third you got to win in atlanta which aint easy. Fourth ya got to have the bcs gods smile on you so yu get to play for a nc, ala auburn. Fifth somewhere along the way ya got to have some good luck. ie just two weekends ago bama and fla both had that kinda luck. Winning a nc is for just one team each year. It aint easy if ya have the best team that ever played cause anything can go wrong. Basin yo season on whether you win a nc is just plain unreachable goals. Keep it real and you will enjoy college football a whole lot more.
Look, I really like Houston Nutt. I think he is a great guy and I hope he has success at Ole Miss. I don't put all the blame on him for our season, but you'll have to admit we were out-coached in the SC and Bama games. Jevan has been the albatross around our neck, but he is not totally to blame either. The offensive line has been terrible and our special teams could use work. Our defense has kept us in some games we might otherwise have been blown away in. I just think Rebel fans should strive to be the best and I'm not seeing that desire from most fans. I think Shackelford is going to be very good and I would play him more now. We have serious problems when it comes to the QB position and maybe that's what has really frustrated me the most. With all the pre-season hype about our team, I was pumped and ready for a BCS bowl bid. I'm not expecting to win the National Championship every year, but don't the elite teams in this conference strive for that? Look at the success and consistency at LSU, Florida and Alabama. Do you honestly think they only set their goals toward JUST getting a bowl bid or JUST having a winning season? No! They have an attitude and a desire to be the best and they work toward that. All I'm saying is that I wish Ole Miss fans would want that too. I'm glad Orgeron is gone, but I wish he was UT's head coach instead of Kiffin!

So do Arkansas fans and South Carolina fans. Arkansas got rid of Nutt and got Petrino (Petrino made Louisville a top team). South Carolina's last two coaches were Spurrier and Holtz (Spurrier made FL a powerhouse, Holtz made ND a powerhouse). The more money you have, the bigger you are, etc, the better coach and facilities you can afford and support.

You still can't say that. That is the one thing that still is false right now. One year does not mean in the long run.
Actually, I think you CAN say that.......he had no expectations last year and did well......this year, WITH expectations and a lofty pre-season ranking, we've dropped a monkey loaf on the fifty yard line each week. I haven't seen a complete game yet this year. That comment about "Nutt can't coach with expectations" has been proven true at least for this year. Ya gotta deal with it. Only Nutt and his teams can change that perception......right now, the Hogs were right about that one.
Now, I go on record as saying that Nutt is still the right man for the job....right now. He has changed all perceptions of Ole Miss football that's so hard to get rid of from the last two coaching regimes. We will take the next step into a good solid football program and occassionally sniff the SEC championship and maybe a BCS bowl.....but to build a true championship caliber program year after year.......in my lifetime, I've never seen it in the state of Miss.......not sure its possible. The jury is still out if Coach Nutt is the man that can do that....no one knows.
As far as the MAN, Houston Nutt....I like him. Too many times I have seen him stop in the off-season to just "make someone's day"....mostly little kids that had no idea Coach Nutt was anywhere around.....he's a very likable guy and is making many, many friends in the state of Mississippi. Hotty Toddy!!!

are any of them middle aged, semi attractive local news anchors?
Sorry, had to.

Does that matter when you beat florida at the swamp and lsu at death valley in the same year? No it doesn't. And oxford may be one of the top 5 most enjoyable towns on that list. (Ranks in magazines and tv shows for all kinds of stuff). Just saying, we very well could have gone to atlanta this year and none of that would have anything to do with it. It depends who's at the helm of the football program, the players he can bring in, and who shows up when the lights come on.
