Terry Bowden? He is 52 years old, coached Auburn in the 90's, and is currently 9-0 as head coach of the North Alabama Lions (currently ranked #1 in Div 2 football).
Wouldn't Ole Miss be a step up from North Alabama? Or no?
My first thought when Ole Miss hired Houston Nutt was "what in the hell are they doing, do they ever want to win?" so if I were an Ole Miss fan I don't think I'd want him.
Then again, my very first thought when we hired Chizik was "Where's the handgun, I can't take this anymore"....

Just tell the trustees at Ole Miss to hide their daughters.
Ummmm. After Orgeron, I don't think Ole Miss had their eyes set towards a NC with Nutt. It was more like hoping for improvement and getting the program back in contention for the West. The state of Mississippi will never win another football NC.
I like Nutt but i don't see us grading him off expectations of going to a National Championship. Yeah we all wanted to go to atlanta this year. I'll blame more on him when we have a more consistent qb and still fluke though. To win big in the SEC you have to have a consistent quarterback. I'm hoping Stanley or Cotton will bring us better days. Maybe not. But i'm hoping so. I hope Austin mainly coaches them though. I know Nutt has never really developed a star quarterback so i hope he leaves that job to austin.
i think nutt is a good coach, but arky fan was right all along...as i suspected. hes a much better underdog and with expectations so high, he has come up short. om fans better hope that much wont be expected in 2010 and they should be in for a good year.

You still can't say that. That is the one thing that still is false right now. One year does not mean in the long run.
thats based off what arky fans said would happen...hes a very good coach, but his teams seem to have trouble playing consistent football. if u look at his record, its up,down,up,down. your right though. it is too soon to say for sure, but arky fans said this would happen, so based on that, they are right up to this point, but your point is taken that its a)too soon and b)an entirely different team and situation than that of arky (both good points and are true until proven or disproven). heck, during some of his down years, he was really down....so thats not the case at om which is the silver lining. maybe his down years will be mediocre and his good years will be great. we shall see.
All I'll say Rebelfan is this. If sometime in the near future you hear anything from your coach, AD, or anyone else in the athletic department regarding anything close to a "2 year pass", batten down the hatches, because its going to get rough.

Everyone blames Nutt for not being able to handle the expectations this year. That may be true, but the more relevant factor is that the players couldn't handle the expectation. There's not a player on the roster who had ever seen success before last year.

yeah good post, that's exactly what i mean, in 3 years we will be able to tell if he'll have us contending in the long run
So what you're saying is that just winning 8 or 9 games a year and going to an occasional bowl game is all we should strive for? Then why even play!? I'm so sick of the Ole Miss fans who are satisfied with mediocrity. We're not playing in CUSA! This is the SEC and I would like to see Ole Miss at the top, not always one of the bottom feeders!
