Alabama LSU-BAMA Game
So what are your early thoughts on Bama and LSU? Will the bye week help bama, and can we find some offense?

I am guilty of assuming that Alabama had already won this game. The more that I look at it, at this point, the more I'm thinking that even though LSU will play them well, Alabama is likely going to win it just like Florida did. Alabama has the better team, with an excellent defense, and no matter how strong LSU is, things aren't going to go there way, here. Even worse for them, it's played AT Alabama.

People tend to forget that LSU is probably the most loaded team in the SEC talent wise. They've taken a back seat in the media this year because of Bama and Florida, but they've got the players to stay on the field with any team in the country. Bama isn't going to waltz in there and walk all over LSU. I hope the UT game taught some of our guys a bit of humility. Often those games can be good for a team like Bama because it shows them, yes, you can be beat. I expect a strong defensive struggle, but I won't dare predict an outcome. I think back in September we all knew Bama's season would probably hinge on this game and as it stands it does. LSU wins, Bama gets NO shot at an SEC title and thus no shot at the NC. There are games Bama can lose. This is not one of them.

i doubt LSU will run the table even if they beat Bama. That being said, I don't think it was the preparation that affected us the most against Tenn. We were beat up, and as you can see from last week, Crompton has improved and that Tenn defense is good.

I don't see LSU losing to Ole Miss or Arkansas. Both of those teams are struggling mightily now. LSU is starting to get in their groove. And I agree that this past weekend opened a lot of people's eyes about UT. Crompton has improved tremendously since the beginning of the season. Hard to believe Bama gave up the most yards to any team against UT considering how inept their offense was supposed to be. I hope it was just fatigue and that they'll be ready to play come Saturday. I just know that if we don't offer some kind of pass protection for McElroy it will be a very long day in T-town.

I agree Alabama did need a wake up, but will we rise or fall. This will be the game of our season.

This game is really a toss up for me. LSU has the talent to win this game for sure, but with the game in Alabama it'll be tough. The pressure is definitely on Alabama and even more specifically McElroy to find some offense. I think LSU can pull the upset with mistake free football from their offense.

LSU 16
Alabama 13

y'all are making LSU seem like they have an unstoppable offense. Look who they've played the past 2 weeks. Auburn's D makes offenses look good, and Tulane...seriously. We're gonna shut this offense down.

bama will have had two weeks to prepare, and lsu is getting better on both sides of the ball with each game. that being said, it should be a great game! im hoping that we use the pass to set up the run, instead of attempting to pound the ball up the middle every 1st down. even more importantly, we need to stop the run. lets make mcelroy prove his worth.
He who laughs last didn't get it.

Well, it's not really LSU's offense that kind of worries me. It's Bama's offense that is scaring me right now.

The major pressure in the game is really riding on McElroy. If we can rattle him and make him feel the pressure even more by stopping Ingram, we have a good shot. Our WRs are taller than Javier and company by about 4 inches, so that will help. Our DBs are as tall or taller than Bama's WRs, save for Julio, and I think Patrick Peterson will be in Julios pocket all day, so that will help, especially if McElroy is flustered.

We have two glaring weaknesses, which Nick will certainly exploit. Our OL can't run-block worth a hoot. If we try to run up the middle, as The Hat likes to do, we'll get creamed. We have to use our speed on the corners and on the option. Our punting game is kaput. We have a terrible punter. Fortunately, our place kicker is okay.

Ingram is as hot as they come. Simply said, if we don't stop him, we lose. On the other side, Bama can't let Jordan Jefferson beat them with his feet or with short and medium passes. If he gets hot, Bama will be in trouble. And, if we use Russell Shepard in some ways not yet recorded on film, that will be a positive for us.

In any event, it bodes to be a classic SEC slobberknocker of major proportions. The nation will love seeing this one as two SEC powerhouses go head-to-head.

Bama's defense will make Jordan Jefferson look more like George Jefferson.

I think the game depends on a few things:

Who trusts their QB more to make plays? I think both coaches have had issues with letting their QBs loose in the passing game. Edge maybe to LSU, BIG maybe.

Did almost losing to UT take the edge off some of the egos? Lets face it, their college kids, theiir going to feel like they can take a game more lightly from time to time. Edge most likely to BAMA.

Who will run the ball better. Definite Edge to BAMA

Who plays better on special teams? In big games like this one spcial teams usually plays a role. Both teams have playmakers on their special teams. I honestly don't know who would have the edge here, mostly because their not my teams and I dont follow them closely enough.

I think BAMA has the big advantage here with their run game and being at home. They should have to rely less on their QB to make big plays. LSU may have to have a breakout game from Jefferson (spelling?) to get the W.
