There was a lot of smack talking and I remember Spikes got his helmet ripped off on one play. I think he was just frustrated, but it's still inexcusable. I think Meyer should suspend him for a game.

It's hard for me to come off as remotely objective on this...I do think most of the Gators are class acts. But this is absolutely inexcusable. My wife got tired of me talking about what a thug Spikes is yesterday...and that was before I saw this. Washaun Ealey is apparently wearing an eyepatch today.

I knew from the time he humped and barked at Moreno last year that he was a classless punk. This deserves a hefty suspension IMO. I'd be shocked if anything happens.

I was just going off what I thought I saw at the game. We just saw there was a flag for unnecessary roughness and on the jumbotron it looked like his helmet got ripped off. Regardless, inexcusable and he should be punished.

Yea, not exactlly the nicest player out there, but he is still a talent. Meyer just needs to make him run stadium steps. While wearing two eyepatches. lol. But seriously, dude does need to calm it down. Was there a flag for this? (why am I even asking?)

He'll go on to make millions for the Ravens as the replacement for Ray "the killer...literally" Lewis. Good for him.

Yes it did, and this is the third thread about this topic... crimsonnation 713 had to close the last one. Spikes' helmet came off on one play later in the game, and a Dawg hit him in his bare, exposed head with his helmet; but in the first series of the game, Spikes helmet was ripped off by a UGA player after the play was already over... UGA got a personal foul penalty over it.

I just got through watching the game again on CSS, and saw something I had not seen before... Ealey started in on Spikes from the first UGA series. After a play was over, Ealey rammed his shoulder into Spikes' back on a play while all the guys were standing around... that set off the first scuffle where refs had to separate players.

Some reporter for the AJC said Ealey had just spit on Spikes either the previous play or a few plays prior to the eye-gouging incident, and that's why Spikes retaliated. I don't know if that's true or not; but I do know, after watching the game a second time and knowing what to look for, that Ealey started all the BS with Spikes from the get-go in the game, and was constantly jawwing at Spikes, who would turn around and say sh*t back.

Spikes' actions weren't the right ones, and Meyer said he's going to have a "serious talk" with Spikes; but after watching all the BS that UGA players were starting with him as a means of intimidation, I can see where it'd be hard not to finally retaliate. I can only hope Richt has the same talk with his players, and hope that their "intimidation actions" weren't actually encouraged by him.

UGA ended up with 4 personal foul penalties, and got away with at least another 3 on late hits on Tebow... one of which was so bad and so late that the commentators showed replays of it repeatedly.

So, what do I think of Spikes now? Knowing what I do, I think he was sick and tired of getting cheap-shotted and abused, and finally cracked back... in a very negative and inappropriate way.

So Urban has his angelic front man Tebow and the rest of his team is the typical, unruly yet talented mob he recruits.

Was moreno talking shit last year? NO, spikes is a POS and you know it. I am not surprised by your views of the situation though. Just trying to defend eye gouging is sick in the first place

First of all, you wouldn't say that to his face.

Second, where is the outcry over Tebow getting hit late yesterday?
