The SEC is filled with complete defensive teams. Not teams that revolve around one player. Every SEC player in history that deserved to win the heisman won it. (Except Peyton).

That's basically what I was going to say. More often than not the heisman winner is an offensive player, and as we all know, the sec offers the best defensive players in the league.

A stat that matters:

Since 1992 since that's when the SEC went to 12 teams with a conference championship:

National Titles
SEC = 7 (1 split)
Big 12 = 5 (1 split)
ACC = 3
Big 10 = 2 (1 Split)
So Cal = 2 (1 split)

This is why we are the most dominant conference in the league. Screw Heisman trophies, when is it ever supposed to be about 1 individual? It's a team effort.

Heisman Trophy = The most popular player in college football. (not the best)

It's pretty pathetic.

Come on... SOMETIMES it's about the most popular player.
Other times, it's the player with the best stats, or players with good stats who are on a great team, or players who are projected to be great NFL prospects.

Bet you'll be singing a different tune if Ingram walks away with the HE15MAN this year!

sadly, it's looking like Tebow or McCoy wil get it, despite their underachieving numbers.

Are you serious?? Darren McFadden against Troy Smith. Darren McFadden against Tebow. I know it is very arguable and a sophomore Tebow should have beaten a junior McFadden, but he was robbed by Troy Smith.

Yeah it's a little baffling to think of all of the tradition and not a single Heisman trophy, but I don't think it's ever bothered any of us.

Alabama's teams through out the years always seemed to be thought of as one solid group. Or mainly remembered as a cohesive defensive or offensive unit. There hasn't been very many individual guys that stuck out nationally, but it doesn't mean we haven't had legends at our University.

I'm not sure if one will ever come and I'm sure most of us don't even care. But I have to admit one thing, it would be nice for Ingram to win it.

IMO, Ingram is the most deserving of the candidates. Tebow has not been as good as usual and McCoy is out of his league (so to speak).
