Nebraska? I guess I don't get that one. Agree with the rest though (especially the part about Auburn being an ankle biter). I'd replace Nebraska with Texas though.
I know alabama has been a far more historical program than us, but saying Auburn just bites their ankles is just disrespectful. The all-time series is 39-33-2 which is not that onesided. Its like hes comparing it to Tenn-Ken. (no offense to kentucky but that rivalry is pretty onesided.)
As a fan and usually nonbiased, I have to agree the ankle-biting comment was a little out of line.
In both schools 100+ years of history, 40 of those years, the two schools didn't even play each other. That's little less than 50% of both schools football history.
Not counting, as mentioned above, the the record against each other is not that big of a gap.
Not even the overall records are "that" gapped...
Bama-.709 average.
Auburn-.627 average
I hate these kind of lists. This is list is only in terms of expectations. Why not take into account other factors, such as lack of tradition and exposure and a tight budget? All of the teams in the OP have the resources needed to win. You could say Vandy is a tougher job than all 5 because of their tougher academic standards for athletes. A case can be made for SMU, a once proud program that might not ever recover from the harshest punishment the NCAA has handed down.
Bama is unfairly pegged in this regard. Shula went 26-24 in four years and was only fired because he refused to make staff changes. Franchione left on his own and DuBose DESERVED to be fired.
Tennessee fired their coach less than a year after being in the SECCG. Florida went 8-5, 8-5 & 7-4 under Zook and he was fired. Auburn was 42-9 the previous four years before Tuberville was fired his last season. Carr was 36-14 his last four years, including 9 wins his last year before he was run out of town.
Bama is a convenient scapegoat for ignorant reporters on this subject. Curry left a contract extension on his desk to go to Kentucky. Perkins had a 32-15-1 record when he up and left for Tampa Bay and Stallings was 70-16-1 in seven years and left on his own, to the sadness of most Bama fans.

I think Bama kind of brought that on themselves after Stallings stepped down. 5 different coaches between 1997-2007. One left on his own, might of been the pressure, I don't really know and one was fired for off feild issues. Saban will bring Bama down on this list because of the success he is having. Florida was never hooked on Zook, Tennessee has been mediocre ever since 2001 loss in the SECCG to LSU. You can make the point that Fulmer was fired one year after taking UT to the SECCG but the truth is we went there because UF and UGA choked early and UT won 3 games because USC, Vandy, and UK's kickers all missed feild goals to beat us. Carr was dumped because he couldn't beat Tressel. I think Auburn should be on this list for one reason, Saban. Tuberville was great but they had to somehow reload to compete with Saban.
No South Carolina? There isn't much in state talent for them, and if there is they have to compete with Clemson and Georgia for it.
I posted South Carolina. That list is ridiculous. If you can't win at the schools he has listed it's your fault. All of those schools WILL win a national championship again or at least get very close. I know that's the expectation at those schools, but whether or not we're rational, SC fans are desperate to win. I know Spurrier's legacy is cemented as one of the all time greats, but even his image is a little tarnished since coming here. If he ever took us to an SEC title or even finished first in the East, I believe you'd have to rank that as some of his best work ever.
Yeah, they come to snuff the Rooster, but he ain't gonna die!!
this list sucks. how about Vandy, Baylor, Indiana, Duke, and Syracuse? try motivating your kids week-in, week-out for what will inevitably end in a blowout loss.
