I think once you remove your auburn colored glasses, you'll see it's pretty much right on point too.
I suggest you remove your crimson colored glasses before attempting anything approaching an objective analysis of Auburn. This team won 5 games last year with a an uncertain QB position being fought out by two first year QB's, new offensive system being taught by a fractured coaching staff led by a head coach just trying to get to duck hunting season. Any real objective look at Auburn suggests a more realistic number of wins falling somewhere between 5 to 7 games, more or less.
Yes, Auburn is still not where they need to be, but they are in a far better position today than they were at this point last year.
What made you think that Bama would have a good year last year? I don't remember any except BP. We won 5 games last year in a worse situation last year than this year. Our RB's were terrible in that system and so was our OL. We still have a top 5 defense in the SEC and our WR's have improved. We do have a bad QB situation but it'll be better than last year since Todd was playing. 5-7 at the worst.
People forget how much talent we have. How we had so many injuries on defense. How we fired our OC over half way through the season. We did all these things and yet still won 5 games and almost beat Ark, OM, UGA, and WVU. So what's going to happen this year? We'll win some of those close ones. How is it that we beat MSU and Tenn last year but all of a sudden they're better? They're not! Ben Tate is going to have a monster season. Fannin will have a good season. Our defense might actually be better this year. We have a top LB crew in the SEC. The best punter, one of the best starting 5 at OL. This is a team built to win not lose.
Go ahead bring up Chizik but I'll say this one more time. He's a better fit than Muschamp. The coach so many people wanted. Chizik has already recruited better than CTT. It's a fresh start for the Tigers and because Chizik isn't a big name means we're going to suck? The fact is that no one can predict the SEC. Not you, me, BP, WE73, Krieger, RebelFan, or even Phil freaking Steele.
You raise some good points. I do think Auburn's defense will be great. They always are and nothing has changed on that side of the ball. And we all know Auburn's got talent. The problem is getting the most out of that talent. If Tubs couldn't do it last year there's no reason for me to believe Chizik can do it either. And I don't care how big Chizik's name is, I'm looking at his overall coaching record. 5-19, 2-10 last year when he didn't even play the toughest in the conference. I know Iowa State is a terrible team regardless, but still...that's a terrible record. I just don't see how that's worth firing Tubs for. And it's not like I'm predicting a national championship for Bama. I do think they're talented enough to win 10-11 games.
Like I said, I don't think Auburn's going to be awful forever or anything. This is a rebuilding year for them. New coach, new system, etc. I think 3-5 games is reasonable but I don't think they'll win any more than that. In 2010 who knows? Maybe they can run the table, but this year, time to rebuild and get back on track. That's not crimson colored glasses, that's reality.

CTT hasn't been able to get the most out of that talent for a while. 2004 was by far his best year but after that with a top 5 defense in the SEC pretty much every year we couldn't win 10+. Yeah his record is terrible but if never would've taken that job and stayed at Texas THEN we signed him, everyone would love the choice. He just screwed up, that's all. The fact that we're better this year than last year just means I think it'll be at least 5 wins.
Look, I'm not gonna sugar coat and say Chizik is going to win it all at AU; he has, in no way, shown he's a capable game-day coach. But his work ethics so far have been very impressive, plus he's put together an absolutely awesome coaching staff.
I think it needs to be taken into account that with his selected staff and the decent talent the team has, especially defensively, he's unlikely to win less than 5 this season. To me, that just seems like logical.
I also think that just as easy is it is to call a 5-7 season, it could easily be a 8-4 season. Other than an experienced QB, the team really isn't much different than that of the 2007 season...when they did have a 8-4 season..and that was with all but 1 player on the O.Line being freshmen.
I do agree, next year is a major building year. But with the entire team being mostly Jr.'s, they should pick up the system fast and get better in great strides as the season progresses.
I guarantee though, if Chizik pulls a 3 win season next year, he won't be shown the door as calmly as Tuberville was.
Schedule:
9/5 Louisiana Tech - Close, but AU wins
9/12 Miss State - AU
9/19 West Virginia - AU, WVU will be overrated
9/26 Ball State - AU
10/3 at Tennessee - could win
10/10 at Arkansas - could win
10/17 Kentucky - AU
10/24 at LSU - L
10/31 Ole Miss - could win
11/7 Furman - AU
11/14 at Georgia - L
11/21 OPEN DATE
11/28 Alabama - L
AU could win 9 games, but I seriously doubt they will. Also, the road team wins a lot in the AU/UGA series.
Regardless of what this guy has to say the season still has to be played. Im going to be completely behind Chizik this season until something causes me to change my mind but that will take a lot. Its much more accurate to predict a range instead of one number. I think we beat the teams we are supposed to like La Tech and win 5-7 games. We will win at least one of our road games. I have done my research on La tech and they were very lucky to win eight. All of their wins were close and they had some terrible losses like one against ARMY! MSU is much more likely to beat us than tech.

I'll say from a non-bama or non-auburn fan that 3 wins is pushing it.. IMO. But who am i to say cause nobody can predict it. but i say they get 6

How surprising you put Ole Miss and Auburn as a toss up but straight to the L column vs. Alabama
