Yes, and while it was not a good idea, this is one time it managed to work out very well, so Florida fans didn't have to eat their words.
But I'll give UF a little more leeway with bragging about Tebow in 2006 because he was used much more often than most backup QBs are.
We got the chance to see him rack up some rushing and passing touchdowns, and not just in mop up duty.

I'm not trying to say that McElroy, Cox, or Jefferson will be bad quarterbacks by any means. I just think it's premature to annoint them as outstanding players who will have a huge impact on their respective teams.

Nobody can accurately predict how ANY QB is going to play until you see him under real game situations and pressures. A cool head must prevail. I am like everybody else. I hope Mac turns out to be a successful QB. We have to wait and see, but I am optomistic. It's better to be positive, isn't it?

ok well you want me to be honest an non biased, i hate doing this but here we go:

-I think Jefferson is way overhyped, he needs time to develop.
-Im afraid Jefferson will turn out like cody burns
-I think Les is a good coach and hope he stays for a while
-Theres a chance Jefferson wont start next year, Sheppard is going to be unbelievable.

Lemme try. Although I was impressed with him, I think Jefferson will go through growing pains. It's only natural. The reason for optimisim is the fact that we were in every game last year until Lee threw us out of them. Jefferson showed poise against Ole Miss, Ark, and G. Tech. He also showed the ability to go through his progressions, instead of dropping back and locking on Lafell. I expect him to throw ints, but i dont expect him to panic. That being said, I'd rather watch him in a few more pressure situations before proclaiming him as an All-American this year.

With two big OOC matchups, SC has to find a way to open and close the season with a big win. Games at UF, UGA, Ole Miss, and Alabama are likely and probable. If SC can manage an upset over one of these four, the they may salvage what looks like an already grim season. Especially with their schedule.
Prediction: 8-4 (They will win their OOC games but suffer losses to the Gators, Dawgs, Rebs, and Tide. The most likely upset would occur against OM)
these 2 contradict each other. Which one is it? Is the gamecocks going to be 8-4? or 9-3? and what about the rebs? Are they 10-2? or 11-1?

I was really enjoying both of your threads up until I read the Ole Miss prediction. You can't contradict yourself like that.

The only problem I see with Bama is McElroy. Even the most talented quarterbacks struggle the first half of the season. The VT, Arkansas, and Ole Miss games could spell trouble if McElroy isn't playing at a high level with few turnovers. We all know how tough it is for a QB to step into the pocket for the first time especially against SEC defenses. Snead threw 6 interceptions in his first 2 games against good competition and he's about as purely talented as they come. But if McElroy can be efficient and the ground can be effective, Bama could get through his learning curve because the defense is one of the best in the nation.

It's a simple analysis. I didn't contradict myself. The post was a probable look into the 2009 season.

I said in another post you were probably unaware of, but I said that 10 wins for Ole Miss is generous. My overlook was how teams would do at best. None of this is concrete. I'm expecting SC to upset OM, but I'm not holding my breath. I said Bama and SC would be the only teams to beat OM this season. Then I said while SC might lose to OM, they might upset them. And it's still a free country, if I choose to contradict myself, I will. But I didn't.

Ole Miss: 10-2 at best. SC: 8-4 at best. Clarificaton: SC and Ole Miss are both capable of losing to each other or beating each other. WallyGoat does not control the college football season. If I did Alabama would win the NC every year. Yes, if SC beats Ole Miss, SC will go 9-3. It's July folks and nobody is perfect. It's was an involuntary mistake, it you can even call it that.

not only that, McElwain will call plays to suit his strengths. Our offense will be exactly like last year's. run to set up the pass. McElwain isn't gonna ask McElroy to win games for us right off the bat. You'll see a steady dose of Ingram, Richardson, and Upchurch.

McElroy was going against the 1st team Defense in the Spring game.

Snead and Burns were playing in new systems last year with new QB coaches, Jefferson was a Freshman. McElroy will be ready.
