I'd rather play Stanford I hate easy games like that yeah i know Stanford isnt good either but its better than San Jose st

The Tide had driven more than 45 yards only once. On this possession, at this critical juncture in the season, Alabama drew from a different well, the well only winners tap. (Alabama vs Auburn 2009 ESPN reporter.

We're payin these assh*les a million dollars? Was there a point to this game? We can get a better game, for less money and distance, for about half that.

Saban opening up Cali for recruiting. Besides, we'll have over 100,000 at B-DS then. We can afford it!

The likely date of the game? Sept. 4

That would make it the first game the Crimson Tide played in a newly renovated Bryant-Denny Stadium.

How?
I guess I just don't understand how paying San Jose State $1 million to travel to Tuscaloosa for one game opens up the state of California for recruiting.

BP is right in a sense. Playing a team from California brings Alabama some notoriety to California prospects, just by simply putting our name out there. This is why we play in Atlanta, to put our foot in the door with Atlanta prospects. Which is basically a hot bed for talent...

Of course it won't be that big of a game or will anyone outside of Alabama really care. It is the first game for the newly expanded BDS though, and besides that I see this game just filing in a open slot. Couldn't find any other D1 schools with a open game would be my guess.
