SEC Football Talk Little doubt remains of which football conference is truly the best. Will the SEC win an unprecedented fifth straight BCS title? Who will face off in Atlanta this December? Will another one of our own once again capture the prestigious Heisman Trophy? Talk about it all here.

This forum is for SEC Football talk only, not for recruiting, NFL, or non-SEC college football discussion.

Saban finally gets busted for paying his recruits. Urban wins another NC, and goes to ND. Bama hires Charlie Weiss.

While Cheesik goes 4-9 and has to wait another season to get 10 wins in 4 years.

Oh wait I was stating facts, not some kind of fabricated bs that Barners hope will happen.

I really don't see any of the SEC coaches getting fired this year. Too many new coaches will get the benefit of the doubt even if they do poorly. Mark Richt would have to lose almost every game and completely lose control of the players before he would get fired - not going to happen. I don't see Spurrier getting axed either - not this year anyway.

as long as Kiffen is out on his ass at the end of the season, I'll consider it a winning season.
in the South, 2+2 doesn't equal four -- it equals 3rd and six.

There's not a chance in hell Tennessee fires Kiffin after this first season. They'll stick with him for at least 3-4 years, just to try to prove themselves right.

I wouldn't be so sure. I can see two games causing them to re-think things -- Alabama and Florida. If they lose those after all of the off-season ranting, I can see them taking a step back.

That's not to mention all of the off-field antics that I'm sure Kiffin's army of thugs is bound to get into.

I don't see any coaches getting fired either. If SC doesn't have a good year Spurrier might "resign", but I don't think that's likely unless he's ready to move on.

I love how we've got an army of thugs, yet we've got a big fat ole goose egg in the Fulmer Cup.

If you're right, then we never have to worry about Meyer going to ND. He's already turned the job down once in 2005; so, if they won't offer it to him a second time, I guess he isn't ever going.

Sigh. You know you've hit the dead period of the offseason when the "Steve Spurrier is going to get fired" predictions start showing up.

I'm not going to stand up for the guy here because I understand where the outsiders are coming from with their reasoning, and I also think it's high time for Spurrier to actually get it together. However, those of you who predict he'll be fired after this season neglect some very important facts:

(a) South Carolina has never been anything at football. What excellent track record in Columbia is Spurrier trying to uphold?
(b) In terms of wins and loses, the past four years have been the most successful in our program's history. It's a pathetic fact, but it's true.
(c) I don't think South Carolina wants to be the school that showed both Lou Holtz and Steve Spurrier the door. Who you gonna convince to come here after that?

Well what if Patrino has the same results as last year? Or, worse, only beats one SEC team (a very real possibility) and even losses a couple of those OoC games? Would us pig fans really have the patience for a third season?

To even suggest firing Petrino after this season is ridiculous.

I think Petrino will win.
I also think Kiffin is going to win.
Nobody is in any real danger.

Dang, are you sure man. You mean to tell me Nick Saban's not getting fired somewhere around the 3rd quarter of the Virginia Tech game ?

Oh, and by the way, that Home Depot joke was pretty good.
