Scout is the worst recruiting site out there.

Scout ranks on how well a team fulfills it's needs. Stacking players at one position doesn't help.

Scout ranks based on whatever acid trip their staff is on.

They are just different ranking systems. Can't expect everyone to have the same opinion on players at each position when there are thousands of players to rank.

That is the common answer by the people at Scout.com to ensure that people continue to look at their site, whether valid or not.

I'd like someone to show me the actual equation they use. We at least know that Rivals uses a point system based on each recruit's production in high school/Juco (granted there are a few missed here and there). They at least try. Scout seems to just float around and rank randomly.

Scout has a fair team ranking system (I like it more than Rivals). But their actual player rankings are bullsht, therefore their team rankings are bullsht

Have to agree with the majority. Scout has went down in recent years...several schools "broke away" from Scout and they haven't been the same since.

ESPN gave LSU the best ranking. And Scout and Rivals have LSU/Bama practically even. I couldn't care less about whether Scout is a viable ranking system or not. I just think that Scout probably knows more about the players than we do.

Rivals >>>>>>>>>>>>>> ESPN&Scout

It's a huge gap. Rivals is the only one worth it's salt. ESPN loves LSU.

The real problem with these services these days is they really think they're experts. But, they aren't really qualified. Some are just some college football walk-ons that minimally went through the recruiting process, or ex high school positional coaches, and they think they know better than the real experts, the coaches. It used to be that these services were basically ranking players according to their college offers and a little evaluating of their own to split some of the difference, now they rely probably more heavily on their own evaluations... and Scout/ESPN do it much worse than Rivals. Rivals doesn't get it right all the time, but their player ratings usually end up right more often than not...which is why even though they maybe have the dumbest team ranking system that doesn't take in account depth at positions or need, it seems more accurate when things play out on the field.

If I do say so myself....

This is a hilarious thread.

It's the same conversation as a bunch of hard ankles arguing over the prettiest finalist in the Miss America pageant.

Who's ready to play rock, paper, scissors to settle this debate?
