Southcarolina Dear Gamecock Club, I quit...
Dear Gamecock Club,

I'm informing you in advance that after 21 years of donations to the program, I will no longer be needing your services. I'm quite certain you will not have a problem filling my Silver Spur seats, after all, we Gamecock fans are some of the most patient and optimistic fools in all of college football. Surely there is someone younger than my 48 years that has not finally come to the realization that "Next year" never actually arrives.

When you said you needed more money to build the program I gave. When you said you needed to upgrade the facilities to keep up with other SEC schools, I gave. When you said that certain SEC games were now considered "Premium Games" and raised the ticket prices, I gave. Each time you raised the dues for my level, I gave. When you hired Lou Holtz and convinced me that the program was in for a change, I gave. When you hired Steve Spurrier and convinced me that the program was in for a change, I gave.

Now, you are telling me that I must now pay an additional $1,350 for my four seats because of the "YES" program, (Yearly Equitable Seating) which doubles the price of the actual ticket. I'm terribly sorry, USC, but I have finally come to the conclusion that the value of the product you are supplying is by far, less than the price you are charging.

As evident, I have concluded that it will cost me $653.00 per ticket, per game, per win, for my wife and I at Williams-Brice Stadium this year (NCSU, UAB, Wofford) Oh, don't worry... I'll still attend games. As long as there is E-Bay, there are tickets.

With best regards....

If I had answers instead of opinions, I'd be coaching....

Dear Gamecock Club,

As a follow up to my last letter, I'd like to propose an alternative offer. It's called the "Gamecock Initiative Value Equation" or GIVE for short. This Program could greatly increase the Gamecock Revenue by supplying a superior product.

Here's how it works. Each game is assigned a value based on the strength of the team, the win/lose and the location. I'll contract to pay you based on the Gamecocks' performance as listed below.......

SEC Non Premium Home Games (Kentucky, Vandy, Miss, Miss St, Ark)
Win = $100 per ticket
Lose = $10 per ticket
*Note.. Vandy may need to be upgraded*

SEC Premium Home Games (UGA, UF, TN, AUB, BAMA, LSU)
Win = $500 per ticket
Lose = $20 per ticket

Rival Game Home (Clemson)
Win = $1,000 per ticket
Lose = You pay me $100 per ticket

Non Conference Non Cupcake Home Games,
Win = $75 per ticket
Lose = $20 per ticket

Non Conference Cupcake Home games
Win= $35 per ticket
Lose=Termination of all Payment for year.

Road Games Regular Season.... Free on TV (I only travel to UGA, note below)

I didn't list the wins to UGA in Athens, or Bowl Games, since we so rarely actually see that, it may be necessary to negotiate these games at the time they might occur.
Sincerely......

If I had answers instead of opinions, I'd be coaching....

Yeah, unfortunately most Gamecock football seasons include one surprising or crushing loss which results in a PMS-esque period for a lot of our fans. It comes with the territory.

Put on your Big Boy pants and deal with it. UGA fans lived through alot of years of losing and getting pushed around by UF before the program got back on its feet.

Right now USC is decent and good for an upset or two but aren't in the upper class of the SEC. They will eventually get better.

I don't care how much UGA lost if I had the money and connections for season tickets I would be there.

Just sell your tickets on E-bay until you calm down so you won't lose your chance for them. You will regret it later.

No actually.. .this time last year, I was tailgating in Athens in the parking lot of some chicken wing restaurant.... having a great time, enjoying all the eye candy that is rampant at UGA....

..... and came home happy, which doesn't happen very often.

And if you read this post last year, it wasn't from me.

Oh my God... how many times have I heard that. Admit it... you work for the USC Athletics Department, don't you?

That's the same old broken record I've heard for 35 years.
Tell me Gamecock fans... how many years in a row have you heard that exact statement?

Are you a real fan? If so you will miss the game day atmosphere, the tailgating, the football. Win or lose.

Don't make a hasty decision you will regret later. Just sell your tickets and see how you feel next year. It could be worse, you could be an Arkansas fan.

So you're telling me that you've invested all this time and money over all these years, just to wet your panties over a loss to Vanderbilt? I don't buy it, and if it's true, it's a pathetic window into your emotional state.

If you know so much about Gamecock football for 35 years, then you seriously need to get out of supporting it, if last Thursday's loss hit you this bad. I mean, run away from it screaming, and don't look back. Gamecock football is not for you, skippy, and I've got news for ya: it's NEVER been for you. Just admit your failure, that you've wasted your time, and get out NOW.

Do us all a favor, and quit joining sports boards like this just so you can be a pathetic attention whore and stop embarrassing other, TRUE Gamecock fans who've seen this before for many years, but don't need a Depends to keep from soiling their socks like you somehow do. What a pathetic joke.......

Sincerely,
1 Gamecock Fan

I just wanna know if he sends it in. I've got friends who work for the Gamecock Club. I'll ask if this one ever makes it in or if it was just a weekly message board rant like the ones I put out on Thursday night.

I think people make complaints like these in a last-ditch attempt to keep the AD from actually raising the prices. The best thing to do is to actually put your money where your mouth is and just not send in your dues next year. Then let the Gamecock Club decide whether the decision to raise dues was a smart decision or not. If the net gain drops, then your dues will drop in the future.

And when it comes to ebay, don't think you'll be getting any good deals on tickets there next year. People on ebay or Stubhub or whatever you use next year will make you pay the cost of the ticket, 1/7 of their club dues for each game, and 1/7 of their seating license for each game. If the government raises taxes on the business, then the business is going to raise your purchase price. This is the same thing. I'd imagine if you have a problem buying tickets through the club next year, then you'll have a problem going through other avenues.
