There will be a lot of doubt with Brandon after a sub-par (but still decent) junior season restricted by injury. However, after attending yesterday's A-Day game and seeing his progress through the spring, I have to say it is very evident that Brandon is on his way to a huge senior season.
He went 15-25 passing for 286 yards and TD pass to Montez Billings (another AU receiver having a huge off-season) with several scrambles out of the pocket and connecting on 2 deep passes with ease. Brandon earned offensive MVP honors as the Blue team beat the White 27-7.
His backups did not fair as well, but Ensminger was 9 of 11 and Caudle was impressive but failed to connect on three would-be 25+ yard passes. If Brandon can stay healthy and the O-Line continues its progress, a 10+ win season will definitely be a possibility.
So Auburn is already scrimmaging? Looks like Cox is going to be ready for the season.
It'll be great to finally start spring practice at South Carolina (which starts Tuesday). With all the news from other SEC schools already practicing, it feels like SC is months behind.....

Auburn has been in spring practice for a month, with 3 scrimmages (including A-day) in the books. Another scrimmage is scheduled for this wednesday. We usually start early, this year may be a little earlier to compensate for time lost in teaching the new linemen how to fill in as starters.
The only injury in A-day was a slight high-ankle sprain to Ben Tate, but Coach Tuberville said he will sit out a couple practices and be ready to go on Wednesday.
Lester looked really good, going 33 yards on 3 carries in the opening series (sat out the rest of A-Day). Tate/Fannin/Davis all looked solid but were all getting around 3-5 yards a carry averages, as the defense dominated the run game.
Before everyone jumps down my throat, let me say this is my opinion. If Brandon Cox doesn't drastically improve this year, Auburn will suffer. Unfortunately, I just don't see it happening. The combination of Cox's limitations and the limitations in the playbook scare me. For Auburn to have any chance to continue their good run, Cox has to bounce back and the offensive gameplan has to include throwing downfield more. There are only so many times you can rely on your defense to win you big games.

Well, I'm not going to jump down your thorat or anything but I will disagree with your opinion of Brandon. After seeing the injuries he played through most of the season I have nothing but respect for him. I don't think he is a future 1st round pick or anything but he does have the ability to make plays and win games when the time comes. You cannot look at his performance last year and use that as a true means to judge his abilility. His knee looked like it had been hit by Barry Bonds and his ankle was almost as bad. The limitations that placed on Brandon affected our entire offence from the LSU game on. Just look at his mobility and throwing in the Washington State game and compare that to everything he did after he got creamed in the LSU game.

I pretty much agree. Cox has never been able to throw the long ball, so I don't see that changing. Cox's best asset is that he is smart and will not lose games for lack of knowledge. His worst asset is that he has limited ability as a QB; he doesn't have a great arm. The Barn's offensive line is not going to be able to give Cox much time against the good defenses of the SEC.
I would say at this point our front 7, with or without Blackmon will be as good as yours....That means they are practicing everyday against players just as skilled as yours and are starting to play like a unit.
Across the D-Line we may even be better. But you shall see!

You say this based only on his games played injured. If you go to this site with AU videos from 2005 and on (http://www.sportssheila.com/AUvideo.html) you can see for yourself that in the 2005 season Brandon threw the deep ball extremely well. I would recommend the Georgia 2005 video personally.

LSU might have the best front 7 in the nation next year. They were really good last year and get just about everyone back.
There are 2 ways that an Auburn season can go: Low expectations = surprisingly good year or high ranking and high expectations = disappointing year. I love a good surprise....war eagle.
I am pretty sure Stafford didn't throw a pick in the G-day game last year, but look at how he did in the actual season.
Practice games don't mean anything
As I read this thread, I thought everybody must have missed the obvious; until I got to your post. What is everyone even talking about? He's the offensive MVP of a scrimmage game with his own Auburn teammates.IMPRESSIVE! Who else could it have been? One of the freshman running backs? There's not a player on that team who's going to come after him like a player from one of the other SEC teams. Especially after being injured much of last year, like the AU guys keep screaming. Being the MVP of your own practice is like being the MVP of your neighborhood flag football game. Did TuberVile have a ring, banner, and MVP trophy made up for him?

Doesn't Florida have a "F Day" or "G Day" game just like everyone else? If so I'm sure they have some sort of MVP to award someone who stood out during the game.
