Default LSU/Auburn matchup
Dandy Don's breakdown:

OFFENSE:

QB: JaMarcus Russell probably has more talent than Brandon Cox of Auburn, but Cox probably understands the Auburn offense just a little better. Even.

RB: Auburn probably has more quality depth at running back than LSU, but they do not have anyone as good as Joseph Addai. Advantage LSU.

OL: LSU and Auburn each have one All*American lineman in Andrew Whitworth and Marcus McNeill. LSU has a little more experience at the other positions in the OL. Advantage LSU.

TE: Auburn is loaded at the TE position depth-wise and Cooper Wallace is one of the best in the nation. Advantage Auburn.

WR: LSU and Auburn have the best group of wide receivers in the SEC. LSU is not at full strength with Craig Dais and Skyler Green not 100 percent. Even.

Special teams: Advantage LSU because of Skyler Green and Chris Jackson

DEFENSE:

DE: Stanley McClover and Quentin Groves of Auburn are very good defensive ends as are Chase Pittman and Melvin Oliver at LSU. Even.

DT: Tommy Jackson and Wayne Dickens of Auburn are very good, but not as good as Claude Wroten and Kyle Williams. Advantage LSU.

LB: Auburn has three great linebackers in Kevin Spears, Travis Williams and Antarrious Williams. Two weeks ago I would have given Auburn a huge advantage, but since LSU has gone to the nickel package on defense and the great play of Ali Highsmith and Cameron Vaughn I give the advantage to LSU.

DB’s: With the great improvement in the LSU defensive backfield the last two weeks, I give the advantage to LSU. Ronnie Prude, Chevis Jackson, LaRoy Landry, Jonathan Zenon and Jessie Daniels have been playing very well for LSU.

Whoever I got it from must live in NC. Didn't notice it until someone else on this board pointed it out.

well..
that's cool.

Brandon Cox's problem isnt lack of talent. Rather, it's his lack in experience that gives LSU the advantage.

If the Bayou Bengals can get it together, then they should beat Auburn quite handily. However, should LSU turn the ball over numerous times, as they did againt the Gators and 'Dores, Auburn is likely to pull off the victory.

... but, I'm going with LSU.

This may be a good game. The Auburn offense has been picking it up and the passing game may look favorable against that LSU pass defense, which has indeed improved over the past few weeks. Auburn's running game will be stuffed due to that tough LSU front seven, though. Auburn, however, may have the upper hand against the LSU passing game, as Auburn posesses the top pass defense in the SEC. This should be a tough, defensive struggle, which hasn't always been the case in this series until last year.

QB: even
RB: LSU
WR: AU, experience and injuries
TE: AU, better

DB: AU, #1 in SEC
ST: AU, #2 in nation in KO returns, great punter, great kicker, Tre Smith is a good PR, plus Skylar Green isn't 100%

The ST should go to LSU and Coach AU, Tommy Tubberville over Les and the gang. Its pretty close because they both are bad coaches, but anybody is better than Tubberville.

Tubby is sleazy, but he is a sly old fox. You gotta watch him. Borges is just plain outstanding. He's the one we really have to watch. If we can keep from making penalties and turning the ball over, being in Death Valley at night and all, we should take them. This will really be Auburn's first real test. Even though they lost to Tech, that was early and Ball was hot. Auburn has made great strides, but against inferior competition. Now we'll find out if they can play.

And yet since coming to Auburn, CTT is

4-2 against UGA.
4-2 against Bama.
4-2 against LSU.
3-1 against UT.

Since 2000 or the start of the current decade. CTT has coached us to a 33-11 record vs SEC opponents.

Add to that, look at our graduation percentage and the lack of off the field problems and we currently are deep with another top recruiting class.

I agree about the Cox issue here. We have had a ever easy schedule thus far but as I have told several people here the SEC is always out to kill each other. 3 teams in the top 6 right now. As for who they have played at the start of the season it is almost the same. We take a bigger hit at the end of the season as usual. Now if you want to say that because we have played lesser teams than others have then that is OK cause I kinda agree. But how much did we beat USC by and how much did Bama beat them by and how much did they beat Ole Miss by compared to UT. Lsu has had its ups and downs as well. Ithink that LSU has a great team right now in my eyes we are evenly matched up. Just my honest opinion. Personally another hard hitting game in the Valley that I love to hate. My pick is Auburn by three no more but could be less. Here is to a safe game on both sides of the ball, and for both teams.

I think home field advantage is overated. Ocasionally (like the UA/UF game this year) it will snowball and the team will feed off that energy but for the most part, the crowd is not THAT much of a factor. Whoever wins the battle in the trenches on the field usually comes out on top regardless of who's logo is painted on the grass.

Another little tidbit for the Dawg fan who hates CTT.....

Since CTT arrived at Auburn, the Tigers have faced 19 Top 10 opponents and have won 10 of those games.

Hold on now. These stats are great, but where is the stat that shows your 2003 season. The season you guys went 7-5 with more talent than you had last season when you went 13-0. Thats when the new OC came in and went to that west coast offense. If it was not for him, CTT might not have a job. That is not hatred, that is a fact.
