Given High Fives: 0 Rep Power: 31 | Awards for Sept. 3rd. The "Foot In Mouth" award for Sept 3rd goes to: Tommy Tubberville.
After claiming on the radio and in print that his 2005 Auburn Tiger's are more talented than the 2004 version, his team gets exposed on national television as having no running game, a quarterback who lacks decision making experience, and a less than spectacular secondary..If he loses another one like this expect that plane to be gassed up and heading for Louisville.
The "Best Man of the Bench" award for Sept. 3rd goes to: Rick Clausen.
With Ainge throwing two interceptions, Clausen comes off the bench, leads his team down the field and throws what would end up being the game winning touchdown in the 2nd quarter. If Phillip Fulmer is the great coach that we all think he is, Clausen should be the starter until he proves he shouldn't be.
The "Shock All the Experts" award for Sept 3rd goes to: Reggie Ball, D.J. Shockley, and the Georgia Secondary.
All three of these guys/groups have had their ability questioned specifically regarding the outcome of their opening game and they all had statement performances. D.J. Shockley with 5 td's, Reggie Ball with a huge win on the road, and the Georgia Secondary with 4 interceptions in the first half against the high powered offense of Boise State.
The "Living up to the Expecations" award for Sept 3rd goes to: Alabama's defense.
Facing one of the most effecient QB's in the country, in MTSU's Clint Marks (75% comp percantage and 2800 yards in 2004), the Alabama defense held him to just 117 yards passing and held MTSU to just 150 total yards for the game.
Kudos to these guys. I may add some more to this with the games today and tomorrow. |
