Default UAB - Vols game
about to start. It'll be interesting to see how the Vols secondary is. They should get a good test today from Hackney.

UAB's quarterback has a rocket launcher for an arm. He hasn't done that much, but one pass must have been going 90mph.

Also, Ainge is not looking very good in his first start. He keeps throwing the ball high while on the run. One of those throws got picked off. Jason Allen is tearing crap up on defense though. I haven't seen much from Mahelona.

The score is 10-3 right now, with 6 minutes left in the first half.

Clausen is proving that he should have been named the starter instead of Ainge so far this game. Also, UAB's offensive line is doing a pretty good job of handling the front four of the Vols as well as Hackney being very efficient against the Vols pass defense.

The front four has done well against the run, but hasn't generated much of a pass rush. The defense played fairly well in the first half holding a very good quarterback and a nice offensive package to three points.
The offense has been sputtering (dropped passes, poor throws on the run) which has helped keep UAB in the game. Also, Robert Meacham limped off the field after a reception and hasn't been back. That bears watching as he is our biggest breakout candidate at receiver.

I think the Vols are about to run away with it though.

Jason Allen is all over the place is showing why he is an all american. However, from what I've seen so far, I still think that the UT secondary as a whole is going to have a hard time matching up with SEC WR's.

I have not been that impressed with Riggs either. He was averaging 6 yards a carry but he's doing it against a truly pathetic defense.

However, I do think the Vols are again "playing down" to their competition. Lots of teams do this.

But if the game ended right now, I'd say the Vols have lots of work to do the next two weeks to get ready to play the Gators (that is without seeing the Gators play yet).

Also, I think that you can't ignore that Clausen is the better QB at this point.

he may not have as much talent, but he does have nerves and "want-to". He just seems to me like a "winner" and Ainge just seems like a "good" QB.

Jason Swain is a game breaker too. I remember watching him play in High School here in Huntsville.

Uh-oh....interception. Wasn't Clausen's fault though (imo).

Clausen just threw an interception in the red zone. Lots of dropped balls. Riggs has not looked like a heisman contender. Defense has been excellent.

Beeds, you're stealing my material....

17-10 now......run-and-shoot gets 7 for UAB.

UAB's QB is an animal. He's almost impossible to bring down. This has to be comparable to everyone's disappointment with USC's performance the other night. With the talent gap between these two teams, UAB shouldn't be anywhere close...

UT 17 UAB 10 (assuming they hit the extra point)

Yeah....I'd say UT fans aren't happy right now. I guess this is just what will happen the first week......I don't expect UF to be up by 40 at the half either, even though Wyoming is light years better than UCF or UAB.
