Seriously though, great friggin win. FTR, I said Florida is goin to the Big Dance. I do think I've underestimated ya'll. The East is lookin sick w/UK, UT, VU, UF, and USC doin work. Kudos Gators....what can I say? |
Appreciate the props, but not only didn't you say we'd be going to the dance, you said we'd be the 5th best team...
IN THE EAST.

I could just as easily see Carolina finish 3rd and Vandy 4th. I don't think the two of you will finish w/more than a 1 or 2 game difference in SEC play, honestly. I think the East is clearly the better half of the conference this year. I think Alabama has the pieces to do something, but not sure what to expect w/Coach Grant at the helm, so I don't wanna put too much stock in them. LSU lost some senior leadership, I had to slip 'em down to 4th.
I don't think anyone will argue, at least, about my picks for #1 in each division |
FWIW, I tried to tell y'all folks were underestimating us, with a lot of veteran players and some great recent classes... not to mention a pretty damn good coach. The only guy I know who even had us ranked last week was Jeff Sagarin, who had us 18th; and he had UK somewhere down around 30th.

This week he has us at #7 and UK at #25.

This win over MSU could have been a fluke, but I don't think so. 5 guys scored in double figures, if that sounds familiar: Parsons 14, Walker 12, Tyus 11, Macklin 10, and Shipman 10. Werner chipped in 9, Boynton 6, and Murphy 5. Boynton and Murphy are both freshmen, and had good games.
Personally, I think BD wanted this win over a highly ranked Michigan State team for personal reasons. In the 2000 National Championship game, we lost to MSU, after upsetting Duke 87-78, and crushing UNC 71-59 on the way to that big game.
Anyway, I hope it's just the tip of the iceberg for this team... many of them deserve some success, after sticking it out the last 2 years.
