Uh, that was TWO years ago. Last year we lost to VMI thankyaverymush.

p.s.-The team in question probably can with #4 and #5 pre-season rankings.

That first Pearl-Calipari match will be great. They don't like each other. I can't wait until conference play begins. Here is a question for UK fans, do you think getting a match-up against Pearl twice a year had any influence on Calipari joining UK? I know the $$$ was a big influence but he seemed very content with Memphis.

If it did it was somewhere down the list (right around the chance to have an even more heated rivalry with Pitino). In all honesty this guy looks like this job that he wanted all along finally came to him at the perfect time. He has pretty much proven himself with major success at a lesser program in a lesser conference by winning copious amounts of games on a regular basis and making it to a national championship game.

It would be hard to describe to someone not in the area just how much he has embraced this job (although from what I have seen of Pearl: Orange sportcoat, body paint, etc., I would expect a UT fan to know what I am referencing on some level) but a H-U-G-E sign came last night at our Blue-White scrimmage where many former players were prominently seated as well as former coach Joe B. Hall. At some point during the game Calipari looks to Hall who is seated in the first row behind the bench and insisted that Coach Hall move up and join him on the bench. Coach Hall had a huge grin and intently watched and listened to Cal talk to the kids during timeouts. He looked genuinely appreciative of the gesture and seemed to enjoy himself. These are the types of ties to the past that Billy G shat on at every opportunity but it seems like Cal is doing more than just trying to do the right thing. He is embracing a legacy that he so much wants to be a part of even as he is becoming a part of it.

The best way I can put it is while we don't have much tolerance for mediocrity or even worse, we have less patience for a lack of success combined with a lack of respect for the program and what it means to the entire Commonwealth. NO ONE at ANYTIME is bigger than this program and NO ONE is irreplaceable. Live it and love it or you WILL leave it!

The beauty of the current situation is we find ourselves with a coach that is as much a fan of the program and its tradition as anyone cheering on the Cats.

In fact, I strongly suspect UT fans will understand this as much as anyone because of Pearl's attitude in Knoxville.

p.s.-I do think he likes the opportunity to go after Bruce at least twice a season though!

???? I'm sure he thought "I get to play Bruce Pearl twice a year" and not "the university of fu(#&* Kentucky wants me to be their head coach!!!!!!!"

We're Kentucky. What more reason would he need? Like Bruce Pearl is that important......doesn't he have a Mexican Jewish National squad to be coaching?

Are you really gonna try and lecture us on how we should talk trash about UofL? Really? We'll say whatever the heck we want about them, thanks peanut gallery.

You're not into it but you were more than happy to do it in honor of a team you don't support. Yeah, that claim is credible.

I'm surprised that we're still getting votes, but we do have a hell of an OOC schedule this year:

Florida State
Michigan Sate
Syracuse
NC State
Xavier
No.1 Florida Gators
10-0 (8-0)
Undefeated SEC regular season

Yeah. I'm not sold on Gator Basketball this year. If Calathes had stayed I'd feel better, but the team is REALLY young and unproven. I'm not sure if we dance this year again.

It just sucks that the past two years we've had so many guys playing out of position. I get the feeling that has a lot to do with all of our transfers.
I have no doubt that Billy will pull it together....I'm just not so sure it'll be this year.

You guys certainly have the talent, maybe not so much experience. I think the Gators are gonna win some big games and drop some that they shouldn't. I think it's gonna be a rollercoaster season and I think headin down the final stretch you guys are gonna be biting your nails on that NCAA tourney bubble. I still say you guys win 20 games, but finish 5th in the East.

I dont see how Kentucky is ranked so high! They did ok last year...nothing real special. Did they even make it to the big dance last year? I know they got a heck of a recruiting class, but they are still freshman and have a new coach and system to learn. But #5??? Too much hype for them!! Im calling bust this year for them!
