Not sure either, but I'd think the leading contender is freshman LHP Nolan Belcher. You guys beat him in March, but he's gotten a lot better since then.

Other possibilities include: freshman LHP Adam Westmoreland and senior RHP Jay Brown

Dyson's our ace. Belcher was our Saturday starter throughout the year.

You might get a different opinion from other USC fans but I tend to think we have an ace-by-committee this season where no one guy is so obviously better than the others but I would say Nolen is probably our 2nd or 3rd best starter.

He's a lefty and strikes out close to a batter per inning average. He's had bouts of issues with his control in stretches though but when he's on, he can be tough to hit.

As to why we haven't seen him thus far? Don't ever wonder at the greatness that is Ray Tanner. He probably foresaw that we would need a solid lefty to go against LSU in the third game and was saving him for this exact situation. You guys are meat.

I kid

Ideally (IMO anyway), we'd have Westmoreland take over for Belcher if he struggles and ride him to Farotto.
