Default Predict Your Teams
2010 LSU Tigers Starting Line-up

1) Trey Watkins RF (Freshman)- So you guys thought you were done with Jared Mitchell? Well there is good news and bad news. Good first, you are. Time for the bad news. This guy is Mitchell JR. he is expected to hit .330 and steal 50+. Now is he as fast and dominant as Mitchell was? We shall see but the future looks bright for this kid.

2) Leon "Neon" Landry CF(Junior)- Landry will get another shot at the starting lineup after being benched in the midseason lineup change for LSU. He dominated early on in the season but slowly but surely fell back to reality and farther down. I expect to come out strong and play an entire season like that. If not, there are plenty of guys waiting for their opportunity. On the field there is not a better defensive center fielder in the conference maybe even the country.

3) Blake Dean 1B(Senior)- Does this guy need an explanation? Moving to first base this season.

4) Tyler Hanover 2B(Sophomore)- This true sophomore will take that year of experience and look to continue the momentum he had going last year. Hitting usually around 4th-6th in the line up Hanover was a consistent hitter who showed sparks of power. He will switch over from 3rd and move over to 2nd to replace DJ.

5) Micah Gibbs C(Junior)- Team USA player who will hope to add on to the average this season. When it comes to the field he doesnt miss a beat and is arguably the best defensive catcher in the conference. I have never seen a player hit so many balls of the top of the wall. Hopefully hes increased 3 or 4 reps to get that ball out of here.

6) Mikie Mahtook LF(Sophomore)- He'll move back to LF to give Landry CF. Like Hanover, Mahtook a true sophomore plans on continuing the success he built last year hitting .316. He'll look to increase his HR total to the double digit mark as he only hit 7 last year.

7) Austin Nola SS(Sophomore)- Known for his defense Nola struggeled at the plate last season but showed signs of coming along in the College World Series coming up with some key hits. He doesnt miss a beat on defense and hopefully he will be able to turn his offensive production around.

8) Matt Gaudet DH(Junior)- Im not sure about him. He was on the team 2 years ago but was cut last year. He hit a walk off his freshman season but was very quiet. Has very obvious power but we will have to see if he will come around. Mainieri obviously saw something in him that gave Gaudet the second shot at it. Hopefully he gets it going this season.

9) Wet Delatte SS(RS Freshamn)- He will start at 3B as Hanover moves to short. A redshirt freshman, Delatte his .455 his senior year at St Amant HS. Known for offensive production he hopes to continue that success at the next level.

Player to Watch: DH/1B Kyle Koeneman
A junior college transfer for Walters State, Koeneman was one of the most highly regarded recruits. He hit .385 and blasted 21 homeruns. Some will question if he will be able to preform at that level in Baton Rouge. I on the other hand am hoepful that he will continue that success and maybe put up Matt Clark style numbers.

There are the tigers. Whats everyone else got?

They've added a bunch of bleacher seats in the outfield of the New Alex Box, so I think the expectations are high. It would be great to have back-to-back national championships! After this season's basketball disaster, Tiger fans need a good baseball showing. Also... Spring Training in football is a few short days away!

Twenty-seven games will be on TV...

BATON ROUGE - Nearly half of LSU's 56 regular-season baseball games will be televised this year, as 27 games have been selected by national and regional networks.

Many of LSU's televised games are part of the new 15-year Southeastern Conference contract with ESPN that also includes ESPN2, ESPNU, ESPN360.com, Fox Sports Net, SportSouth and Comcast/Charter Sports Southeast (CSS).

LSU games will also be televised this season by Cox Sports Television and by the Jumbo Sports Network.

"I think it's a real tribute to our program and to SEC baseball overall that we have so much television exposure," said LSU coach Paul Mainieri. "I'm thrilled that our fans and the people who love college baseball will get so many opportunities to watch our games. We embrace what this can do for our program and for our sport."

Including potential postseason games, the Tigers could play on TV over 40 times in 2010.

Alabama Bama lineup from Al.com
TUSCALOOSA -- Two days before the Alabama baseball team's 2010 season opener, the first two-thirds of the batting order is set. A freshman will start in right field. Left field seems to be the one starting position still undetermined.

A plan is in place for starting pitchers, at least two start with. And the bullpen is coming along.

First-year head coach Mitch Gaspard says his team is ready for the 2:05 p.m. opener Saturday against South Alabama at Sewell-Thomas Stadium.

Sophomore left-hander Adam Morgan, the Crimson Tide's only returning starting pitcher, will start Saturday. Junior right-hander Jimmy Nelson has established himself as the No. 2 starter and will pitch at 1:30 p.m. Sunday at South Alabama.

Junior right-hander Jason Townsend and junior left-hander Jonathan Smart are battling for the No. 3 spot in the rotation. Taylor Wolfe, a freshman left-hander, is the No. 5 starter.

Third baseman Jake Smith will be the primary closer, with outfielder Matt Taylor also providing late-inning relief pitching. David Head, Nathan Kilcrease, Adam Scott, Brett Whitaker, Tyler White and Adam Windsor also will come out of the bullpen.

The first six spots in the batting order are set, Gaspard said:

1. Taylor Dugas, CF
2. Josh Rutledge, SS
3. Ross Wilson, 2B
4. Clay Jones, 1B
5. Jake Smith, 3B
6. Chris Smelley, C

Andrew Miller, a freshman from Citronelle (St. Paul's High School), has won the right-field job. Junior John David Smelser (also an infielder) and freshmen Brandt Hendricks and Ken Myer are battling for the left-field spot. Both freshmen are coming back from injuries suffered in the fall. Hendricks broke a foot; Myers broke a leg.

Sophomore Jon Kelton is likely to be the designated hitter when the Tide faces right-handed starters.

Alabama is coming off a 37-21 season (18-11 in the Southeastern Conference) and is picked by coaches to finish fourth in the rugged SEC Western Division.

As much roster overhaul as we have had in Starkville, I am not even sure I could tell you enough players on the team to fill out a lineup card.

C. Powers will be at first base
Nick Routt will be the opening day starting pitcher.
I think Russ Sneed will be at 3rd base, or possibly DH if Cohen chooses to go with a better defensive player at 3rd.

Other than that, I think it is pretty much up in the air.
We are... M-STATE!
