Default 2009 College Football Playoffs
This is for anyone interested in the 1-AA, DII, and DIII playoffs. The DII playoffs begin this weekend, and the 1-AA and DIII playoffs start next week. Does anyone have a team they're pulling for in these games? I want to see Montana win the 1-AA title. I hope either Central Washington or TUNA win the DII title game because it'd be nice to see Prince Hall or Brandon Fanney win a NC. I hope the St. John's Johnnies win the D3 title because I'm a fan of their coach, John Gagliardi. He's the winningest coach in the history of football. I hope you guys take some time to read about him and his coaching methods. It's fascinating stuff.

If you miss watching college football during the 2 week gap between the SECCG and the bowl games, you'll really enjoy the lower division football playoffs. I'll keep this thread updated every week until they're over.

U-N-A!!!!!!!!!!!!! The trophy will coming home to Flo-town this year.

As far as D-1AA.... Youngstown didnt make the playoffs so I'm rooting for anyone except Montana. My best friend is a Montana guy and I have a rivalry with every team he likes.

The NCAA website has a bracketology competition for all 3 divisions. Would anyone be interested in setting up an sectalk group on this site: http://www.ncaa.com/games/? Or better yet, could this site have a pick 'em contest like it has in the past for bowl games and March Madness? I know that's a lot to ask for...

Anyway, here's an interactive bracket for the DII playoffs.

UNA's only loss was to West Alabama in 4 overtimes. They are gonna lay waste in the playoffs I can promise you.

Not quite, their coach was at UNA when UNA won 3 straight National Championships in the 90s, they are still the only NCAA team to do that. West Alabama was definately the most deserving team to beat UNA, but as far as playoffs go, UNA should be favored until the championship game.

What about High School playoffs? Russellville vs Muscle Shoals tomorrow night, biggest rivalry in North Alabama...

I wasn't saying they will win it all, I just looked it up UWA is playing Albany State in the first round.

U kidding me? My reference was a newspaper from a few days ago, which was wrong apparently. You are right, they made it. And yea It sounds like I really like UNA and I really don't, but it rubs on you when you're around that campus every other day...

Here's the Division III tourney bracket if anyone's interested.
NCAA.com – The Official Website of NCAA Championships - NCAA

It's great to see Montgomery's Huntingdon College make it to the playoffs. They only recently started playing football.

West Alabama beat Albany State to advance to the sweet 16. TUNA plays Arkansas Tech this weekend.

A lot happened in the playoffs this weekend.

Huge upset in division II. Carson-Newman beat TUNA. Defending champ Minnesota-Duluth lost to Grand Valley State. Every #1 seed in the tourney lost this weekend.

Montana trailed South Dakota State 48-21 late in the 3rd quarter, but the Griz scored 40 unanswered points to beat SDSU. Richmond and App State play will play next weekend.

No team in division III stands a chance against Mount Union.
