Default Michael Phelps
Michael Friggin Phelps. 8 for 8 in gold medals in this Olympics. Each one broke the world record.
He now has 16 medals total...14 of them gold. He is the most decorated athlete in olympic history. I hope you guys got a chance to watch him swim because it was history in the making and we may never see such a feat in any sports again.
My question is this...Is Phelps the greatest athlete ever? We are talking about guys who dominate their respective sports...Guys like Armstrong..Woods..Jordan
I think Phelps is worthy of being ranked right in there with them.

That was an awesome race, even my wife who hates sports was on the edge of her seat on that final stretch. Congrats to Phelps and the entire swimming team, and God bless America!

I guess it depends on how you define athlete. If you define it simply as someone who participates in a sport then yes he might be. If you define it as all around physical ability then I don't think so. We had a great swimming team at my high school and those dudes were in great shape, but if you threw a football at them it was doubtful anyone would catch it.
