Hey yall,
Considering that the Gators won the winner's bracket, will a win on Monday night earn the title for the UF girls?
That's the way I have alsways seen double elimination tourneys played.
I have listened to the broadcasts all week and the rule was never explained.
Help please
Pretty sure they start over in a best of three series once they get down to the final two teams. At least that's how it is in the men's tourney and I don't think it's any different in the women's. Last year Fresno State had one loss heading into the championship series against Georgia (Georgia was undefeated), but they were still in after a Game 1 loss to the Bulldogs and actually went on to win the National Championship.
I'm 99.9% sure it's the first team to win two games, regardless of prior losses.

You are correct. In the finals, it starts over with a best 2 out of 3 taking the title.
I've been wrong before, but fastpitch has been a big part of my life for the last 12 years both coaching and umpiring. I've seen enough to know that it is a pitcher's game and a game of speed. If you can hit the right spots and move the ball around, and you have fast players on the base paths you win games. All these home runs are uncharacteristic of higher level softball. You don't see them being hit of the Gator's ace.

Nelson is something else. I think her ERA was something like .44 before yesterday. Uncharacteristic game for her... everybody has an off-day, I guess. We were lucky to still pull out the win with her pitching like that. Fortunately, her backup is nearly as good. Brombacher has never lost, and her ERA is .76 to Nelson's .48.
It was a phenomenal finish last night. We were going back and forth between the softball game and the baseball game. Luckily we watched the bottom of the 7th so we got to see the walkoff. It was pretty cool. Nelson didn't pitch as well as shes been pitching, but her defense certainly didn't help her. We had a couple errors that put her in tight situations.

That's true; much of the team didn't seem focused. Walton might want to rethink that decision to take the girls out for a day of go-cart racing on their day off, before such an important match-up. I'd want my team relaxed; but I'd also want them on their toes and thinking about the upcoming game. They didn't look like they were prepared. And, when Nelson got into trouble, she lost her cool, and started pitching recklessly... and that's something I've never seen happen.
Too bad we lost the whole thing.. SEC teams cant get on a grip on softball ships... Its ok though. we don't have a problem winning the ones that matter... and those are silver............... SEC FOOTBALL FTW
