Default What do you think of ice hockey?
Just wondering what everyone thinks of the game. Be honest and don't hold anything back.

I'm enjoying the NHL playoffs right now and I really enjoyed the Frozen Four. This is the only time of year I follow hockey. The regular season is practically pointless. The game does have its dull moments, but overall I think it's fun to watch. The NHL playoffs are exponentially better than the NBA playoffs. Last night's Caps/Penguins game was what every hockey game should be.

Apparently no one thinks enough to even look at the thread, much less respond. Hockey's better in person, I'll flip back and forth on the TV when it's on, but they show the Bluejackets and the Predators here on FSN.....both teams suck. Gimme my Sharks, the Red Wings, the Stars, Penguins, Devils, Flyers....I'd watch any of those teams more consistently.

I actually like to watch hockey in the playoffs. It's an entertaining sport. One of the greatest sports movies made so far was Miracle on Ice. I get chill bumps every time I watch it.

I prefer soccer (football) over hockey. I can watch hockey if I have beer and however many hours to kill. Being I've never lived anywhere Ice is a factor I really haven't gotten into it. It's more entertaining than baseball on TV but not as fun as soccer, football or basketball. I live 45 minutes from Nashville and haven't been to a game. I went to more AHL or whatever they were when the T-Blades were in Lexington.

Not really my thing, although the fights are pretty funny. Gotta admire their skating ability but the actual game itself? Meh. It is a bit like soccer, turnovers a-plenty.

Hockey is the worst. The only thing worth watchin' is the fights. Reminds meof Nascar in the way that it's also boring, and the only thing interesting is the wrecks.

Can't stand it. It's far more boring than soccer... at least in soccer, you can see the freakin' ball. On TV, the only way you ever know where a hockey puck is, is to look for the guy who's skating the fastest, and who everybody is trying to behead. I even went to a couple of minor league (I guess that's what they're called) games years ago with a guy who loved hockey, but I still couldn't get into it. The only way it could be worse is actually having to sit in an arena with a bunch of people yelling, "That was illegal, EH!" the whole time.

Fair enough, but far more boring than soccer? There are far more scoring chances in a 60 minute game of hockey than a 90 minute game of soccer. Hockey players at least hit each other all the time, unlike soccer players. Hockey has power plays, 5 on 3s, and empty nets whereas soccer does not.

The main flaw in games like hockey, soccer, lacrosse, etc. is that they lack different types of scores with different values. In football we have TDs, field goals, safeties, extra points, and two pt conversions whereas those sports only have 1 point goals. So in hockey, soccer, lacrosse, etc. you can't go from trailing to leading with just one score. In football for example, if you're down by 3 and score a touchdown a team takes the lead.

There is more scoring in soccer. That is a fact. Main Reason you have a HUGE FREAKIN' GOAL. Also, set pieces like free kicks and corner kicks make soccer an amazing sport.

Hockey is okay, but I like to save time when it comes to hockey. I find if I watch the Sportscenter highlights that I save about 3.5 hours per game. This makes me feel good because everyone likes to save time.
